DlgQWK Development Reid Bishop 8621 West 88th Place Westminster, CO 80021 USA Dear DlgQWK user, Welcome to the second distribution release of DlgQWK. It has been a long time in coming, but QWK for DLG Pro is finally here! I am sorry for the long time it has taken me to get DlgQWK released, but I found that interfacing a QWK door to such a complex BBS as Dlg Pro (and doing it RIGHT) was a very time consuming process. Please report any bugs or requests you may have in the BUNDLE echo- this echo is privately distributed among many DLG systems. Please use your favorite QWK reader and DlgQWK to post in this area, as well as any other echo areas you frequent- origin advertising is a GOOD policy! You may also send bug reports to myself. My mailing address is shown above, and my e-mail address is shown below and in the DlgQWK.DOC file. This release of DlgQWK a crippled version of DlgQWK. The registered version of DlgQWK is Shareware- and I wanted the distribution version to reflect all the capabilities built into DlgQWK. If you like DlgQWK, I encourage you to send in your orderform and registration fees in order to obtain a full working version. Once your registration is received, you will receive a Keyfile that will 'activate' this any any future copy of DlgQWK such that all crippling is disabled. Among some of the features that have been crippled in DlgQWK: Users may only export 50 messages per session. Each user will only get to import/export bundles a total of 10 times. DlgQWK will not pass imported messages thru the SCREEN.DAT files that may be on your system. In otherwords, imported messages very well could contain FOUL language! NetMail or UUCP E-Mail that users upload within a QWK bundle will not be processed by DlgQWK. (Note that this capability is not yet present in DlgQWK at this time.) Once you have registered DlgQWK and received your keyfile, you are responsible to keep your personal keyfile to YOURSELF. Do not allow anyone access to your keyfile, as it is encoded with your name and serial number. A keyfile in the wrong hands can activate any current or future versions of DlgQWK so that it is no longer crippled. I rely on reasonable shareware registration to continue development of DlgQWK. Lack of registration due to unauthorized 'leakage' of keyfiles will only cripple continued development of DlgQWK. Please keep this in mind. I'd like to thank all of you who helped me make DlgQWK a reality. You should find DlgQWK to be extremely reliable and stable, as it has gone through exhaustive testing and bug-fixing in the past several weeks. I expect my beta testers to find more bugs, but I am confident any remaining bugs will be minor in nature and easy to cure. Good luck!- Reid J. Bishop FIDO: 1:104/224 USENET: rbish@a68k.denver.co.us Support BBS: The Arvada 68K BBS- Westminster, CO-USA Things to look for in the next version: (around the end of April '93) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More flexible menu options, to allow the sysop to define how DlgQWK's will appear. I hope to be able to tie into DLG's current menu interface. NetMail and UUCP E-Mail support. Ability to add and remove areas from users Global Arc list with a simple message. Consider it something like AreaFix for DlgQWK. New Files listing option. Bulletin incorporation in the NEWS file. ...and MORE!
