dcBull V1.03 Mar 24, 1993 ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Changes: See bottom of this file. This is a DLG BBS/OS program which allows users to selectively re-read bulletins. It can be easily installed as a menu entry. This program respects the user's preferences for: screen width (it does it's own word wrapping) screen length (it will [More Y/n/=] prompt the user) ANSI color (ANSI off will not display colors) User level (both minimum and maximum user levels can be adjusted) All foreground and background colors in this program can be reconfigured to suit your tastes. See the dcBull.config file for details. Menu selection is "intelligent" and will not allow illegal entries. REGISTRATION ~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a DEMO. This program is shareware. All functions of this program are available with the following restriction: * Only the first (oldest) bulletin in the menu can actually be read. If you register this program, you will receive a key file which will unlock the program and all available bulletins can be read. I think this is fair and will give an honest look at the program. If you would like to register this program, fill out the following information and mail it along with a check or money order for the appropriate amount (US funds) to: David Czaya 84 Roosevelt Avenue West Seneca, NY USA 14224-3158 In return, you will receive a key file to unlock the restriction along with another small utility for DLG and perhaps a preview of what I'm working on next. Also, all registrations for dcBull will make you eligible for significant reductions in shareware fees on future products. Updates are always free (media/postage if necessary is extra) and available on my support BBS. I just became a DLG sysop and have a lot of ideas for this fine BBS. Registering dcBull will tell me what you want to see and how much time I should devote to DLG products. I hope you understand the work involved and feel the small shareware price is worthwhile to help offset my time and financial expenses. Thank you! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- DCBULL V1.03 REGISTRATION Check one: NAME _______________________________ ____ Send key by post ADDRESS ____________________________ ____ Send key by Internet ____________________________ ____ Send key by FIDO CITY _________________ ST/PROV _____ ____ I will call BBS for key ZIP/POSTAL _________________________ BBS NAME (necessary) _______________ INTERNET __________________________ FIDO _______________________________ (see Fido notes below) PHONE NUMBER (in case of problems) ______________ I prefer to call the support BBS and pick up the key file. It is not currently connected to FidoNet or the Internet. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION ~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's very simple... 1) Place dcBull, dcBull.config (and the key file if you have it) in a directory. Anywhere is ok, but the files should be kept together. 2) Edit the dcBull.config file if you desire. 3) Create a new menu item for dcBull (see your DLG docs for this). This is an executable type program with the following command line: path/dcBull %UNAME The menu configuration should be similar to this: [ 1] Letter: B [ 2] Executable: (path/name) DLGConfig:Misc/dcBull %UNAME [ 4] Description: Read Bulletins [ 5] Type: Executable [ 6] Help File: [ 7] Lower Level: 1 [ 8] Upper level: 255 [ 9] Hidden: NO [10] Load type: OVERLAY [11] Ask user if sure: NO [12] Pend messages: YES [13] Cli mode: NO [14] Pause on completion: YES [15] Log Value: NONE [16] Activity string: Reading bulletins [17] Priority: DEFAULT [18] Edit help file * entries 7,8,11,13,14 are up to you - they don't affect the program KNOWN BUGS ~~~~~~~~~~ There is one known enforcer hit that only shows up when dcBull is run online. It is a "Read Long" hit and is not believed to cause any problems. It has been traced to one of the compiler functions and not something I wrote. I will try to get this fixed (or rewrite the function myself) by the next version. This "hit" does not show up when run directly from the CLI. DISCLAIMER ~~~~~~~~~~ This program has been tested on an A1000 (OS1.2/1.3), an A2000 (OS 2.1), an A2500 with 68020 accelerator (OS2.1) and on an A4000 (OS3.0) in all CPU modes (with and without copyback mode). This program is V2.0 COMPATIBLE. Take this to mean that it has been tested using AmigaDOS V2+ and functions as described. It may not comply with all V2.0 style guidelines and uses no V2.0 specific functions (to allow use with any OS). I retain all my protected rights under US and foreign Copyright laws. In addition, "dcBull" and all accompanying documentation and support files must be kept together during redistribution. "dcBull" may be distributed by any conventional means (electronic or otherwise); however, no charge may be made for distribution of this program aside from typical media and handling costs. Redistribution of key files is STRICTLY prohibited. Distribution or inclusion with other commercial or "shareware" products is expressly prohibited without prior arrangements with the author. Although every attempt has been made to present a well-written, properly functioning program, use of this program is entirely at your own risk. Always practice safe computing (backup and test) to prevent accidental data loss. Updates ~~~~~~~ v1.01 19-Mar-93 Fixed ANSI flag which was being interpreted incorrectly. v1.02 23-Mar-93 Fixed "Error 20" bug. Made a bad assumption about where the config file was to be found. v1.03 24-Mar-93 Fixed occasional double-spacing in the menu entries. Also, no longer displays login stack bulletins.
