I use some of the new REXX Commands in this version, it also is a nice form of copy protection. Now all you slobs with Pirate setups can't run it! Hyar hyar hyar!! 7.0a = This is THE LASTEST! (As of Nov 19th) >>WARNING! The Text.Quotes file has changed, please copy the new one over! * Now, uses the new PROMPT command so checking for 77 or more characters is now obsolete! * Now sets the "Where?" column in a WHo command for "T-Quote" * Now uses all 16 colours of C-Net for more beauty! Ooo!! * Fixed bugs in SYSOP MAINT, previously when you changed a quote, it would use my colours - now conforms to LINTEX, TIMTEX, and HANTEX specified in files! OooO!!! * Now has a more professional 3-D style look to it. OooOOO! * Is a tad cleaner and a little faster... replaced "tr'';tr xx" for a simple "tr '\n1'xx".. less command hunting for poor ol' CPU! Yay! * Now SUCCESSFULLY removed the racial slurs put into the cute mode (Ahem.. the "I HATE NIG..RS" one... I don't know what came over me when I wrote that. Some of my best friends are black!). * NOTICE! It is not recommended to use more than 5 quotes. It will work perfectly if you do, but I disabled the "More?" mode so people with 23-line screens don't have to hit "Y" when the screen for TQuote fills up. This means if you use say 6-1000 quotes.. umm.. hee hee.. get my drift?? * Oh great... more dirty words in the removal system! Be sure to check them to make sure they are the ones you want.. >:) * More Cute-Mode sayings have been added in.. check and make sure they are the ones you like. >:) * Fixed cute mode spelling error.. it's "poontang" not "puntang". DISCLAIMER: =========== This is NOT a copyrighted software, I will NOT sue you for running it like SOME people I know (Ahem, Patrick Baker...). Run it at your OWN risk, not that it does anything bad or whatnot (I run it with no problems... I dunno why it wouldn't for you!). The worst someone could do is to delete all your quotes. Well... if someone got on as the SYSOP they could enter some MCI Level 2 commands but most sysops don't have a problem with this. You can run this program for 30 days, upon the end of these 30 days you must call my board and say "Hi!" and that is how you register. I call this "CALLMYBOARDWARE". When you call my board you will get any new updates free (Well, fone bill...). I do not and neither do I plan to make this "Shareware", "Freeware", "Shit ware", "Crumbware", "Paymenowware", "Trapdoorripoffware", or any other type of "ware". It will stay "Callmyboardware" forever and ever. This is simple, all you do is call my board and vo'ila! You're registered! Also, any damamages (HOW??) that come to your system that is the fault of TQuote is NOT my responsability! You're the Sysop and should have control over what yer users can and cannot do. It's not my fault if you're a dolt and can't read the C-Net docs. Or, if you are some pirate who thinks he can run a copy of C-Net (Maybe you can!) and gets his HD trashed by someone who KNOWS what they are doing, then smell my words and hear my breath: SERVES YOU RIGHT!!! ORIGIN: ======= I found out while setting up C-Net one time that the quote wall program that came with a disk I got really sucked the big one. So, I downloaded and tried a few more, they all stunk like yesterday's abortions. I did not like how ANY of them worked. So, I set out to mangle my own in ARexx. Thus becometh, the birtheth ofeth T-QUOTE(eth). It started out to be extremly buggy and tiny, yet it sorta worked... After a few months of minor thingies.. I got to version 4.36 I think, and it still sucked! So I re-wrote the entire thing! Thus I came up TQuote5.0, highly functional, very fast. It worked great, but I then came up with the idea "More options, the better!". I added in several new things, and fixed them, etc. I got to 5.5x and I needed to do a overhaul of how it worked. It was pretty hosed up! I came out with version 6.0 on July 30th, 1992. This was a major step for the well being of TQuote. Now, as you read on, the POWER of TQuote is lingering somewhere on your computer, waiting to spring!! Now we are at version 7.0a! Yipee!!! INSTALLATION: ============= In this ARCHIVE there should be: File: Size: Text.quotes 2371 - Sample Cnet 2.xx Text Data file TQuote7a 18188 - The Cnet 2.xx Version of TQuote BlueSilver.displayme 1331 - My board's AD! TQuote7a.Doc 9389 - This file, ummm how can you read this if it's not here? * Due to many requests, I no longer include the Cnet 1.xx versions of TQuote. If you are too sorry and pitiful to not send in your fees, then what business do you have calling Future World? * Due to many requests, the ZZZEndPad.foo is no longer needed. It has been written directly into TQuote. If ANY of these files are missing, or the SIZES are different, you might be running a mangled version of TQuote7a. If this is so, please call the board you downloaded it from and piss and moan to the Sysop that you WANT THE REAL ARCHIVE dammit! If the Sysop gets pissed cuz you yelled at him and boots you off, call my board and you will have access. No one on my board is denied access! Everyone is validated (unless they are some damn clone who has no life!). I am a nice guy. LETS REALLY INSTALL THIS THING DAMMIT!! ======================================= All ya do, is make a directory in SYSDATA: called Quotes. Then, copy the Text.quotes file to SYSDATA:Quotes/ directory. This should be simple enough. Now, copy TQuote7a to the PFILES: directory (or wherever you wanna put it). Now you are all set up to go! Add it is a PFile that that more than one person can use, and set yer access to what it should be for your system, or you can add it as a menu command from the main menu: (Add this line to your BBSMENU file as the LAST item under Available everywhere.) TQuote | \#0PFILES:\ (path/file ex: \#0PFILES:Utils/TQuote7a\ ) Or, you can simply add it at log on in your Sys.Welcome file! Like this: \#0PFILES:\ Now, before you run this program first, you should go and configure the Text.quotes file, and the TQuote7a file to change the system variables to what you want. These will be discussed now. bortex='\c2' /* Colour for text INSIDE border. */ timtex='\c4' /* Colour for the quote's time */ hantex='\c2' /* Colour for the quote's HANDLE */ lintex='\c7' /* The colour for the >----< thingy in a quote. */ siz='10' /* Min. size of quote in order for saving. */ as=1 /* Ask users if they wanna read it? 0=No, 1=Yes */ cz=1 /* Search for naughty words! 0=No, 1=Yes */ qn=5 /* Maximum number of quotes (9999999999 max) */ cm=1 /* Cute mode 1=on, 0=off - Great fun! */ dt='SYSDATA:Quotes/Sys.QuoteNum.' /* Quote Data File, must be in own Dir!! */ dd='SYSDATA:Quotes' /* Quote Directory (Same as above) */ txd='SYSDATA:Quotes/Text.Quotes' /* Name of TEXT data file */ These should be pretty well self explanatory, if not, ask a local C-Net jockey. He's bound to know. FINISHING REMARKS: ================== Well, I hope you all enjoy this! This is the result of many hours work and I think it's the best I've seen! I hope you like it as well! If you have any bug reports or ideas, please, feel free to call my board as soon as possible and tell me! I run one of the best C-Net boards in Nebraska and am open to all comments. Visiting C-Net Ops are WELCOME to trade PFiles with me! I have a large collection of them and am always looking for more! So give it a call, it can't hurt to just try it!
