The author is not liable for any damages that may have been caused by using this software. ====================================================================== INTRODUCTION ============ PortConfig is basically a serial port configuration program for several programs written by me. These progrmas include GateTerm outdialer, TeleVal callback verifier, and MTalk multi-user conference. It was written so that each of these programs can use the same serial port configuration files. Its alleviates the development of telecommunication programs and saves the user time from having to configure the serial port for each of my programs that accesses it. Of course, if you don't have any of the mentioned programs, this program is pretty useless. This document only explains how to get PortConfig installed and running. To actually use the program, you must read the help files which are accessible from the help command ([H] menu-item). ====================================================================== REQUIREMENTS ============ This program runs on any Amiga(tm) with version 2.04 of the OS. A system with 512K would suffice. ====================================================================== INSTALLATION ============ You must put PortConfig and its accompanying files into the assigned directory called DOORS:ASI. DOORS: is the proposed directory for doors (or BBS utilities) used by many system operators and door programmers. ASI is a directory where you should put the BBS or comm utilities written by me. You must also create several directories within DOORS:ASI. However, when you unLHA the archive it will create some of these directories for you. The directories are: DOORS:ASI/bin/ -- Where all executable files go. DOORS:ASI/config/ -- Where all configuration files go. DOORS:ASI/data/ -- Where all the data files go. DOORS:ASI/doc/ -- Where all the documents go. DOORS:ASI/help/ -- Where all the help files go. DOORS:ASI/log/ -- Where all the log files go. DOORS:ASI/key/ -- Where all the key files go. DOORS:ASI/script/ -- Where all the scripts go. DOORS:ASI/text/ -- Where all other text files go. DOORS:ASI/user/ -- Where all the data on users go. The files pertaining to GateTerm are as follows: DOORS:ASI/bin/PortConfig -- Port Configuration program. DOORS:ASI/config/GateTerm.PORT -- A sample serial port file for GateTerm, but it can be used for TeleVal and MTalk too. DOORS:ASI/help/PortConfig/ -- Online help files. It is important that you put these files in their designated directories under their original names, because other programs may try to access them. ====================================================================== USAGE ===== Usage: PortConfig ... keys: COLS display columns (default 80) ROWS display rows (default 24) COLOR/CLR display color? (default NO) CLS clear screen where appropriate? (default NO) PFILE/PF ports file to edit (default DOORS:ASI/config/GateTerm.PORT) Example: PortConfig COLS 80 ROWS 48 CLS Y PF DOORS:ASI/config/TeleVal.PORT ====================================================================== UPDATES ======= Updates will probably be included in packages that support PortConfig.
