CNet AMIGA will work on any model AMIGA computer. A 1Meg system is recommended for 1 or 2 ports. Additional ports will require approximately 350K each. Although it is POSSIBLE to run with 2 floppy drives, a hard drive IS recommended. Here are some of the highlights of the software: o Status line always contains user's handle and time of day, status window contains all user account information. Status window can be toggled on and off. Split screen mode allows 2 user's half screens to be displayed simulataneously. Status window also contains current prompt and last command. o Pull-down menus allow changing of these various screen display modes as well (like chat mode, private BBS, etc). o Full printer support, of "printer.device" set by preferences, for text output, may be turned on/off at any time. o Support of 4800, 9600 baud, as well as 19.2 and higher "locked" baud rates, allowing for transfer throughput in excess of 1600 CPS. Drops DTR line to clear line. Also definable modem initialization sequences. o Configuration for up to 15 modem ports, and one console port, multi-user system, completely written and protected for multi-user use. Will use any serial device/unit number combinations (ASDG, internal Supra Zi, etc, etc). o Selection of screen depth at run time (8/4/2 colors) for speed, also "hidden" mode opens no screen at all, totally in the background. o All BBS text contained externally, to save memory when running multiple ports, also to allow unlimited modification, like color addition, even formats of Scan lists. In addition, all Menus strings are contained externally to allow changing any command, aliasing several commands to one function, or adding new commands, which can be programmed to read files or run programs. o Xmodem, CRC, 1K, Ymodem batch, and Zmodem fully supported, including Zmodem upload resume for unfinished files. o Commodore C/G mode supported for 64/128 users to see color, cursor movement o Extremely powerful text line editor supporting search/replace, bordering, justification, paragraph boundaries, enhanced by an ANSI visual editor, which supports full paragraph wrapping and auto-insert mode, mouse pointing, just like any word processor. o MCI (Message command interpreter) allows imbedding of commands whig(print variables, change colors, prompt for input, run programs, read other text files, test/branch, background colors -- access controllable. o Up to 24 access "groups" each with a name, and a set of default ratios/limits (calls/day, minutes/call, file u/d ratios, byte u/d ratios, etc) and default privelges ( more than 25 "flags" for system functions, and exemptions). o Each user account (more than 2000 supported) contains complete address, as well as a copy of his access group's default ratios and priveleges, which may be customized for each user individually. Other features here include TimeZone setting, AM/PM or military time preference, paranoid mode (won't let others see your address/birthdate), default protocol, and more. o New user questionnaire optional for customized questions o Function macro key support, 5 print-only, 5 input stream also. o Full accounting system, supporting credits/debits for more than 15 system functions, with user balance, maximum debt, may also be used as an alternate "credit" system to credit for posts/responses, debit for downloading, etc. o SAM (System Activity Monitor) tracks usage of the various system functions, and keeps "currents" so you know exactly how much of everything is on the system at any one time. Also, SAG (System Acticity Graph) plots usage of the system to formulate a graph showinf peaks for busy times, etc. o Time Restrictions, limited baud rates for Pfiles, Logon, UD, as well as access groups, for each of the 24 hours in a day. Each port may be unique. o Screen Dim function slowly lowers screen brightness is system is inactive. o Each port may individually have it's own screen, selectable using the laying gadgets and the mouse. C-Net is very multitasking "friendly," if you have the memory, run word processors, databases, other terminals programs in background. o All maintenance/sysop function are performed on-line, including editing access groups, users (including those online, and yourself), also a real on-line CLI (password protected) to do just about ANYTHING on-line, including running programs using normal standard I/O. Edit/read any file, user incactivity purge, access "transpose" to reset default privs/ratios. o Automaintenance mode, which can do user purge, old message/file deletion at any specified time during the day. o Multiport systems can support inter-user conferencing, with "control" users to mediate conversation. Also on-line messages between users. o Electronic mail can be forwarded, and returnn-receipts can be requested. Also, sysops can edit user accounts directly. o Call logs and u/d logs kept (optional verbosity levels) o Auto-call back validation optionally calls users back to receive slightly higher access. o All configuration of user files, access files done ON-LINE, nothing to do before running the program for the first time. o Quick constant Alphabetical user organization routines for fast finding of speicific users, listing, etc. o At logon, optional summary/search of all new messages on the system o With subirectories, unlimited number of subboards possible. Message/file areas may be u/d only, messages only, mixed, or static (no uploading/posting allowed). o Direct exchange subboards allow users to directly list files on a disk or directory, select, download, upload, directly to the disk. o Each subboard can contain an Entry text file message, and can be "joined" or "dropped" by the each user. o Up to 5 suboperators per subboard, with Mail to Subop option o Subboards can be closed, restricted by age, password protected, access protected for entry, writing. Also, optional "private message" areas, allowing users to leave Private posts, responses, even Files. o Examine contents of Arc, Zoo, Zip, Lzh, and Grab contents of file (list in hex/ASCII format like CLI type opt h) o Estimated download times, restricts downloading if no time o Option to move items between subboards o Option to alphabetize contents of subboard based on Titles. o "Adopt orphins" directly from the disk into a subboard listing. o Text search single item, all items, or globally. o Validation supported, new uploads optionally may not be downloaded; uploads without descriptions are considered unvalidated. User receives no credit unless file is validated. Users can remove unvalidated files. Sysop has option to remove credits when file is killed. o Item attributes can be set, as a sysop favorite, no responses, free download, or protect from auto-deletion. o Each item has a short description and a long description, responses to file descriptions are optional. Short scan includes filesize and short description o Option to allow users to change their Handles, addresses, etc themselves. o Relogon option, use several accounts on one call. o Built in BBSList system, Vote structured messages. The version 2.0 release will put an end to any debate on this topic. It is true that I am back at school full time at Michigan, now studying Aerospace Engineering ... and am also now a pledge in Triangle fraternity. These things will no doubt put a drain on my free time, but I have been able to work on CNet. The near future is VERY exciting for CNet! I'm now working on a visual editing system for the edit-user and edit-subboard routines ... point and click. Couldn't be nicer! The POWER that's already there is fantastic with the new BBSMENU format, multi-port control panel ... The MAIN reason for holding up a pre-2.0 release now is that I want to have ALL of the data converted AT ONCE. So far, the user data, access data, mail, and message bases are different. Still to change are the subboard structures and the g/p file structures. Rather than release 3 conversion programs now, 2 more in a couple of weeks, I want to get them all out a the same time. It would be a NIGHTMARE to have people at different stages of the 2.0 conversion. ALSO, the new C programmer's pack would have to modified each time a structure is altered. As it is NOW, all C pfiles will have to be recompiled to work with this version ... I just want that to happen ONCE, not several times over the next month or so. Please be patient ...
