#7 Mystical One (314) on Mon 11-Feb-1991 1:31a: If the next version of CNET doesn't come out to the summer why don't you look at the new version of SKYLINE (probably a bad word on this board). But the new version of SKYLINE is coming out this summer and there isn't anything in CNET that SKYLINE will have. SKYLINE will support 15 NODES at one time. ALSO LISTEN FIDO BUILT INTO THE PORGRAM. THe code has been entirely rewritten in another C language and is only 130k with all the new options. There are tons of other things which SKYLINE is adding. I tell you this there isn't nothing CNET WILL BE ABLE to HOLD over SKYLINES head anymore. Even the speed of SKYLINE has muched improved and is as fast os cnet if not faster. SKYLINE is a program to watch out for in the next few months. Because the author os SKYLINE has put it as job number one to finish this program and get it running in the summer. His qoute is to elimited all other BBS programs. I hate to sound like a jerk but if SKYLINE does come out with all this new junk before the new version of cnet hits. You might CNET loss some people or sales due to what is coming for skyline. NEW SKYPIX, not slow and jerky anymore and the NEW SKYPIX is just more then just GRAPHICS and sounds. And cnet stilldoesn't have skypix working yet. How long will it take to put skypix into CNET and have it working 100%. I've been waiting for sometime now. The big thing I'm waiting for is the CLOSE option which I talk to Ken about so when can get TRAPDOR running all the time. #8 Modem Man (87) on Mon 11-Feb-1991 4:14a: Skyline! HAHAHA! Is the main support board still 915-833-3899? I want to call and see this "new version". I like the way Mike has to rewrite it to get it right. Skyline will never be competion to C-Net AMIGA. Sorry to inform you of this. #9 Modem Man (87) to Mystical One on Mon 11-Feb-1991 4:19a: HAHAHA I just called the SKYLINE board and guess what? RING RING RING RING Mike must of not found that GURU bug that plagued 1.3! HAHAHAHA! #11 Big Brother (1) on Mon 11-Feb-1991 1:49p: If it has to be said than OK ... although I've been implyig it ... my goal has always been for CNet to remain number 1. The version 2.0 release will put an end to any debate on this topic. It is true that I am back at school full time at Michigan, now studying Aerospace Engineering ... and am also now a pledge in Triangle fraternity. These things will no doubt put a drain on my free time, but I have been able to work on CNet. The near future is VERY exciting for CNet! I'm now working on a visual editing system for the edit-user and edit-subboard routines ... point and click. Couldn't be nicer! The POWER that's already there is fantastic with the new BBSMENU format, multi-port control panel ... The MAIN reason for holding up a pre-2.0 release now is that I want to have ALL of the data converted AT ONCE. So far, the user data, access data, mail, and message bases are different. Still to change are the subboard structures and the g/p file structures. Rather than release 3 conversion programs now, 2 more in a couple of weeks, I want to get them all out a the same time. It would be a NIGHTMARE to have people at different stages of the 2.0 conversion. ALSO, the new C programmer's pack would have to modified each time a structure is altered. As it is NOW, all C pfiles will have to be recompiled to work with this version ... I just want that to happen ONCE, not several times over the next month or so. Please be patient ... MUCH MORE is to come!! #7 Mystical One (314) to Alzar on Mon 11-Feb-1991 1:39a: Why run cnet for two reasons Multi-NODES and speed. But you might be right why run it, specially since SKYLINES next version has those two commands and plus mo re. Other then that tell me what CNET has over skyline. I'm sounding like I do n't lke cnet anymore but you get tired of something after awhile. There is one t hinkg I hate about skyline and that is the only thing I never liked, it was when you upload it took FOREVER to before it would let you enter a description to th e file. I've waited as long as 10 mins. before. That is just 10)% stupid the way he programmed that and there isn't no reason for it. But I'm not saying I'm gre at either, any one that had a guru with Space Empire and tell you that NO ONE is perfect but with TEAMS it helps prevent mistakes before they happen. #8 Modem Man (87) to Mystical One on Mon 11-Feb-1991 4:17a: just one question, are you getting any money to advertise SKYLINE here? Because personally I don't think any of us C-Net sysops want to hear about Mike and his piece of **** program. It has only taken him 3-4 years to get it right. HAHAHA ! #9 Storm Bringer (114) on Mon 11-Feb-1991 6:47p: I'm interested, I thank it is also, good that ken see's what the compitition is doing. if what Mystical one is saying is true... Hard to believe that skyline will offer more then Cnet and only be 131k. This I do want to see, or here about.... (by the way, Mystical one. I don't doubt your word. but I wonder if where you are getting your info, could be corrupt.) anyways. Skypix would be a plus on skyline. but there are few other things that skyline could beat cnet in. At least for the time being... But if You are going to censor this board on simply the fact that you feel no one is interested in hearing about skyline. I will make it clear that I would not mind hearing more on it. As I'm sure others would not mind.... But then agian my interests got peaked when I heard that it was 131K. I'm just a big fan of doing alot for little memory. #10 Mystical One (314) on Wed 13-Feb-1991 1:34a: If we stopped everyone from talking about someone else didn't want to hear about then the BBS would be pretty quick. If you don't like ht subject then don't read it that is what I do. If I don't like it I go to the next one. It's like TV don't watch it if you don't like it. Ok... The ONLY THING COMPETITION WILL DO TO KEN IS MAKE HIS PROGRAM BETTER AND BETTER AND BETTER. If you didn't have anything to worry about on the Amiga then he could be so farther behind because he would be so far ahead sinec it would be the only BBS. I didn't say SKYLINE was the best, WHY DO YOU THINK I RUN CNET...Hummm. Mystical One...
