The attention is unwelcome, however, since in the course of the mission her pilot, the CAG, severely tested her nerves to the point where she considered resigning. That night, after a late-night rendezvous, she is thrown off the ship by an uknown assassin. Lt. Rabb and Lt. (J.G.) Pike are assigned to investigate her disappearance and uncover a wealth of sexism aboard ship from the other aviators. Tigershark, an attack submarine, is testing a new type of torpedo that can follow its target before striking. However, the civilian computer expert running the test has an agenda of his own and threatens to destroy a cruise ship if his demands are not met. To prove his sincerity, he has booby traps planted around the boat set to go off at his command or when his laptop is tampered with. Rabb and Austin are sent aboard to settle the situation. The Navy is on the verge of giving into his demands when Austin, a computer weapons specialist, devises a plan that may destroy the torpedo before it destroys the cruise ship. Desert Son Episode #3 Guest Starring Charles Hallahan, Gregg Henry, Spencer Garrett, Neal McDonough, Roger Aaron Brown, and Oliver North as Ollie, with Dale Dye Teleplay by Donald P. Bellisario and Evan Katz and Robert Crais Story by Robert Crais Directed by Joe Napolitano A simple mistake leads to serious consequences when Marine Lt. Jay Williams apparently "kicks" (transposes) digits in distance coordinates, causing artillery shells to hit a reconnaisance party on a practice range. While he admits to the incident, the company's captain is afraid he's going to get off, just because he is the son of a Medal of Honor winning general and former Marine Corps Commandant, and so he stonewalls JAG's investigation. The general, however, wants Rabb and Austin to conduct an impartial investigation, mostly because he knows his son is a screw up. When one of the members of the recon party dies, Williams takes back his admission and reveals the tape that would prove his innocence. However, Rabb isn't convinced, and with the help of Austin's mysterious friend "Ollie" they find the proof they need to reveal the truth. Brig Break Episode #4 Guest Starring David Gianopoulous, Michael Jai White, Lee Tergesen, Charles Cyphers, James Nardini, David Bottrell, Wayne Duvall, Chris Conrad Special Guest Star Andrea Parker Teleplay by Rueben Leder and Robert Cochran Story by Robert Cochran Directed by Jim Johnston A group of brig inmates at the Seatac Naval Base in Washington State have managed a daring escape, kidnapping Lt. Déjà Vu Episode #5 Guest Starring Vivian Wu, Lawrence Monoson, W.K. Stratton, Michael Paul Chan Written by Evan Katz Directed by Doug Lefler A number of Navy lieutenants have been found murdered in and around Washington, D.C. Rabb suspects the wife of the Thai ambassador, Angelique. But after a sniper attack by the Thai ambassador's guard and his subsequent confession, the case seems closed. Austin isn't convinced: she still believes that Angelique is the murderer. Meanwhile, in the company of Angelique, Rabb is being haunted by memories of a girl he knew in Vietnam when he was sixteen. Pilot Error Episode #7 Guest Starring Tim Grimm, Francia D'Mase, Daphne Ashbrook, Ken Lerner, Steve Rankin Teleplay by Jack Orman and Robert Cochran & Donald P. Bellisario Story by Jack Orman Directed by Les Landau When a Tomcat pilot goes down during a test run and is killed, everyone is quick to call it pilot error. Rabb and Austin go to Miramar to investigate. Rabb is not ready to call it pilot error, figuring instead that the new APTRN system installed in the Tomcats may be what caused the plane to crash. The only way to prove his theory, however, is to test the system himself under the very same conditions as the downed pilot. However, his objectivity may be clouded: not only was he friends with the dead pilot, but the whole incident has reminded him of when he and his mother were told of his father's crash. War Cries Episode #8 Guest Starring Gail Strickland, Scott Coffey, Marta Martin, Luis Avalos, Jacob Vargas, Blayne Weaver, and John Wesley Shipp as Gunnery Sergeant Granger Written by R. Scott Gemmill Directed by Duwayne Dunham When a young Marine guarding the American embassy in Lima, Peru, sees someone on the embassy wall turning to shoot him, he panics and shoots first. He is horrified to find out that the victim was a Peruvian boy, and the brother of his girlfriend. While the Peruvian population is outraged by the "murder", the Marine's actions are defended in front of Rabb and Austin by the Marine's gunnery sergeant. Sergeant Granger claims that the boy was a member of Peru's Shining Path, and thus was a terrorist deserving to be shot. Things seem more complicated than that: the Marine's girlfriend is pregnant and her brother may have been seeking to take revenge. The American ambassador doesn't care about any of this; all she wants is to return to the United States. Instead, she is forced to tend a hospital opening, but is nearly killed in transit. The attack sparks new suspicion on who the members of the Shining Path may be, and who may still be in danger. Scimitar Episode #9 Guest Starring Ron Livingston, Nicholas Kadi, Natasha Pavlovic, Leland F. Gantt, W.K. Stratton, Shaun Toub, Sara Mornell Written by Robert Cochran Directed by John McPherson Two marines have accidentally crossed over the Kuwaiti border into Iraq. One is killed, and now the other one is being tried by the Iraqis as a spy. Rabb and Austin are sent to defend him, but Austin doesn't know that Rabb is really being sent to free the marine with the help of a mysterious contact known as "Scimitar". Boot Episode #10 Guest Starring John Finn, Jenny Gago, Julie Caitlin Brown, W.K. Stratton, Sam Jenkins Written by Lucian K. Truscott IV Directed by Jim Johnston Private Schuler was considered by her D.I., Carrington, to be a sub-standard Marine. But when Schuler ends up dead, hanging by her neck on the repelling tower ropes, some fear that the D.I. may have been pushing too hard. Rabb conducts a formal investigation, while Austin approaches the case from the inside, posing as a new recruit. By all accounts, Carrington had it in for Schuler, leaving her the prime suspect. When an attempt is made on Austin's life, Rabb wants to pull her out but Austin insists on staying in. A newpaper clipping she finds may be the key, revealing a hometown connection between Schuler and her killer. Sightings Episode #11 Guest Starring William Lucking, Madeline Zima, Raoul Trujillo Special Guest Star Wings Hauser Written by Evan Katz Directed by Tom Del Ruth It's JAG meets The X-Files when Rabb and Austin investigate the disappearance of a Texas girl, which some locals believe is related to strange lights in the sky near a closed down naval air station. Rabb chides Austin for thinking it may be U.F.O.s, but when the girl is found hiding on the base that night, so is a disappearing helicopter and strange men with glowing green eyes. Rabb still searches for a terrestrial explanation, and he finds it when he discovers night vision goggles in the base's air tower. With the help of the girl's uncle, he devises a plan to rescue Austin and the girl from the base's new, and covert, occupants. The Brotherhood Episode #12 Guest Starring Cress Williams, T.E. Russell, B.J. Foster, Marjean Holden, Theodore Borders Written By R. Scott Gemmill & Donald P. Bellisario Directed By Michael Zinberg The Navy suspects racism in Captain Overton's Marine company when an inordinate number of black soldiers wind up injured by beatings and other mysterious means. One problem with that theory: Captain Overton is also black. The latest victim, PFC Hanson, lies in a coma in the Camp Pendleton Marine Base Hospital evidencing the same bruisings which led to the suspicion. Investigation shows that Private Hanson desperately did not want to be in Charlie Company, and requested for transfers out of the area. Rabb is convinced that Overton is hiding something, and when drugs are discovered on Pendleton's beach during an exercise, its further evidence that Hanson's attacker may not have been from the Corps, but rather from his old neighborhood's gangs. Defensive Action Episode #13 Guest Starring Andrea Thompson, W.K. Stratton, Cliff DeYoung, Bill Bolender, Tim Quill, Glenn Morshower, Scott Jaeck, Ned Vaughn, and Terry O'Quinn as the CAG Written by Terry Curtis Fox Directed by Raymond Austin In an incident over the Bosnian No-Fly Zone, an American F-16 becomes disabled and its crew is forced to eject. In the same incident, the CAG shoots down a Bosnian helicopter. Since firing on a Serbian aircraft is a violation of the cease-fire, the CAG is court-martialed. He insists that it was self-defense; that the helicopter fired first and was going after the downed crew. However, there's no evidence of any gunfire in downed plane or the recovered pilot's effects. The only chance is to examine the effects of the RIO, who's missing behind enemy lines in Bosnia. Smoked Episode #14 Guest Starring Andrea Thompson, Michael McGrady, Bernard White, Steven Anderson, Sam Vlahos, and John M. Jackson as Admrial Chegwidden Written by Donald P. Bellisario Directed by Jim Johnston JAG has a new commanding officer: Admiral Chegwidden. Along with him comes his new aide: the femme fatale Commander Krennick (from "Defensive Action"). Meanwhile, a Navy Tomcat is forced to land in Cuba and now the Cubans want to negotiate for his return. Rabb, Austin, and Kreddick are sent down to Cuba with a representative from the State Department, with orders to destroy the valuable avionic software the Tomcat was carrying. Unknown to the Naval officers, the State Department representative has orders of his own which Rabb unwittingly places in jeopardy. Hemlock Episode #15 Guest Starring Andrea Thompson, Jack Conley, Jamie Denton, Scott Burkholder, and John M. Jackson as Admiral Chegwidden Special Appearance by Oliver North as "Ollie" Teleplay by Joack Orman & Donald P. Bellisario Story by Robert Cochran and Jack Orman & Donald P. Bellisario Directed by Jim Johston When the itinerary of someone named "Shepard" is faxed to Lt. Austin by mistake, it nearly costs her her life. A gunman posing as a British naval officer tries to kill her and takes the itinerary, and it's up to Rabb and Krennick to figure out why. Tracking down the shooter means tracking down the itinerary, which is for a secret visit to the United States by Russian president Boris Yeltsin. Knowing that the itinerary will be used to try to assasinate Yeltsin, Rabb and Krennick must catch "Hemlock" before he gets the chance. Meanwhile, as Meg fights for her life with Ollie at her bedside, we see her memories of growing up in west Texas.
