demo   without   the  fitting  musical
score?   What  would  'Closer' by CNCD
have been without the industrial track
which   caused   this  horribly  dense
mood?"

f1c02The Ripper reaches the highest regions
of   the  arts  of  asking  rhetorical
questions.

f4c03 "One group who had to find the effect
of missing sound was Impulse when they
had  to display their 64k intro in the
40k   competition   at   the  Mekka  &
Symposium'97 without music."
f1c04Restlessly,  he  runs  over the stage,
stops  here and there, points into the
audience  and takes dramaturgic breaks
while  speaking.  No doubt, The Ripper
is exhibitionist; an actor.

f4c03 "When  we  now  come to the award for
the  Best  Musician in 1997, we honour
the  person  who more than anyone else
of  his  arts has managed to supply an
athmosphere.  A tone that doesn't much
decide  about  the  quality of a demo,
but  a lot about the success it has at
the viewers.

For  the  hosts  of this award we have
found  two  musicians  who aswell have
this  ability  and  who  therefore are
almost  predestined  to give the price
to   the  lucky  winner.   Ladies  and
Gentlemen,        please       welcome
Jogeir/Noiseless and Yolk/CNCD!"

f1c04The  first  one  to  take  the word is
Jogeir.

f4c02 "Thank  you,  The Ripper.  Actually I
find  the  choice  of  Yolk and me for
hosts  for this award quite fitting as
we  both  represent  totally different
styles.   So are the nominees which we
have the honour to award today.

Much  unlike  coders  or  graphicians,
musicians   are  highly  devided  into
different    parties   of   absolutely
opposing attitude.  We have people who
work  with the rather classical stuff,
partitures  and  belcante  on one hand
and  on the other, we meet progressive
techno   DJs   who  reduce  sound  and
variances   to   the   minimum.   Both
extremes have their own value and only
the fewest manage to do both.

When  I  had  a  look  at  the list of
nominees,  I  found  people  who haven
proven  that  they are able to provide
quality in more than one field."

f1c03He  looks a little uncertain around as
if  he  was astounded about the length
of  his own speech.  Then he gives the
word to Yolk.

f4c04 "I don't have as many words as Jogeir
and  I  also have not thought about so
deep  topics as he did.  All I know is
that  these  people  on  that list are
pretty groovy!"
f1c03In the applause that now sets in, Yolk
starts to read the list.

c03Revisq  jumps  up  and  shouts  out in
triumph.  His recent highfly which has
brought him to the number one ranks in
the   charts  seems  to  be  unbroken.
Under cheers and his music roaring out
of the PA, he heads towards the stage,
where  he receives the congratulations
from Jogeir and Yolk and of course the
trophy.  In his short speech, he gives
thanks  to his friends and groupmates,
to  the  voters  and  to  the commonly
amusement ironically also to his mummy
and daddy.

c02Another  winner  from  a polish group.
This  might  underline  the importance
the  polish  Scene  plays nowadays for
our Scene.
