So, we just collected some facts and put them together in here and commented them - totally unironic of course. c07f3gggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg f1c08 Amiga Bodyguard Memory Protection System for the Amiga c09A new memory protection system for the Amiga has been announced for May 1998 by Stefan Ossowskis Schatztruhe (http://www.schatztruhe.de/). The bodyguard shall make the AmigaOS a reliable and stable system, which means that no more Guru messages caused by bad software will appear. An inbuilt Enforcer-like function, many configuration options, an automatical handling of most software errors and an inbuilt API for application programs will be features of the program. As cream on top it will be fully compatible to existing software. System Requirements: AmigaOS 3.x 68030, 68040 or 68060 with MMU 4MB FastRAM Well, I don't think this will be any option for a serious Amiga user, really. c07f3aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa f1c08 Alive Mediasoft (AMS) Split Crystal Software Formed c10Being found only eight months ago, AMS the british Amiga software trading and publishing house, already announces major changes. Andrew Reed, former director of AMS decided for new pathes and is about to open a new software publishing house called Crystal. They claim the move to be needed as AMS alone was due an impressive success not able to cope with both segments of trading and publishing sufficiently anymore. The split leaves AMS to a pure mailtrading company, while Crystal will take away the creative potential. Titles announced for release under the Crystal label are Gilbert Goodmate, Tank Goblins, Arcangel, plus two new titles in early development. It also includes, soon to be anounced, PC licenced conversions. Crystal Software will be operating fully from 3rd March 1998. c07f3aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa f1c08 Amiga = Doomed? c09For ages Amiganians have looked with tears in the eyes towards the PC Quakers. For no reason that any thinking living being could even bother to understand, nothing seems more important to have Doom ports to actually the idiots return even on Amiga. I don't like to admit it, but actually there are at least seven different ports in development at the moment, two of them for PPC. The most popular undoubtedly is ADoom for a) having one of the fastest 68k engines, c) for accesible higher screenmodes (upto 1600X1280, gfxboard please and never dare asking for speed) and b) for its name; it's just so easy to remember. WAD for Doom2, Final Doom and Ultimate Doom all reportedly on the ports to work, but you can have zillions of free WADs on the internet aswell. Ah, before I forget it: Port doesn't mean you get the complete game on Aminet, but an interpreting software for the original game - so you need to buy it anyway. Remember: Software piracy is a crime. The game is a hitter surely, but you can save yourself for leeching this version if you have one of the earlier released ones as the changes are so far only marginal in the gameplay.
