Beyond the Frontier seems to concentrate on points of view, games reviews and technical tutorials. Indeed, this is what many disk magazines concentrate on (i.e. the Word, ROM. etc.). When deciding on whether to have a news section or not, you have to make up your mind whether your magazine is going to be geared towards up to date news and views or whether it is going to be full of timeless pieces which will be of interest to many people without going out of date quickly. I believe Beyond the Frontier is currently geared towards the latter point. I don't feel as if this is the sort of magazine to be bringing the latest news. For one, it's released only every 3 months, usually more like 4. It also takes a lot of time to send off to everywhere and by the time people get the magazine, everyone will have already heard about any "new" news in the mag anyway. This has been demonstrated many times, take the Escom buyout for instance. When BTF was still discussing this, Viscorp had already put in a bid to buy the Amiga. Now as I type this, a company called QuikPak based in Canada have shown great interest in buying the Amiga. By the time you read this either Viscorp will have changed their mind about buying the Amiga, or there will be a new Amiga (or Amiga type thing!) from some company we didn't expect to hear from. Happens every time doesn't it? So, in short, I don't think having a news section of this kind is right for Beyond the Frontier. Many people have mentioned about the news section being interesting and up to date in AF, but this was due to several reasons: AF was monthly (a huge advantage) and the magazine wasn't really geared up for anything, it was a sort of jack of all trades, master of none type thing. So having up to date news didn't upset the balance of the mag in any way. Why not send in your views on the subject ]5....we need a good laugh!]1
