The  Amiga is now officially dead as a
games  machine  ...or  at  least  as a
games machine which actually has games
sales!

This  doesn't  mean that everyone with
an Amiga is now a techie head.  People
still  with  Amigas  have sought other
means    of    entertainment.     That
entertainment is PD, often spoke of as
the lifeblood of the Amiga.

I  agree.   Without PD the Amiga would
be  virtually  dead,  I  say virtually
because  we  can't  forget  those  118
people  who  buy commercial games like
Gloom!

PD is the one thing which the PC can't
directly  pinch.   PD  is  ]5"the"]1 Amiga
community.   Many people involved with
making  PD  stuff  have  been involved
with the Amiga for a long time now and
as  a  result  they have many contacts
who are also Amiga addicts.

Approximately  70% of the Amiga public
now  say  PD  is  their main source of
software.    The   move   to   PD   is
increasingly   more   so  with  games.
Gamers are going back to those classic
Speccy-style  games,  which  are still
brilliant  even now.  Mr 'lax tells me
that Speccy emulators are all the rage
nowadays.   Incidentally,  if you want
Speccy  game  snapshots,  give  Alan a
call,  he'll be only too happy to fill
your  disks  up with games.....  won't
you Alan?  :-)

[Err...   yeah, I guess so.  But don't
forget  that there are still a load of
dedicated   Speccy  PD  libraries  and
groups about which may be able to help
ya  more.   Look  around  the  mag for

Aaaaaaaaanywaaaaaaaaay,        another
increasingly popular util is the music
tracker.   I  can't believe the number
of  people  asking me for mods to swap
with  them.  There are many people who
are  interested in learning how to use
a  tracker,  which  brings me onto the
topic  of the next article.....  Amiga
hardware.
