And it's smart. Not the PC, but the Internet access he's got for free through the company's account. I've been absolutely everywhere, from The White House to the Taj Mahal. From the CU Amiga Web-site to my own brother's Web-site. ]5It's shite by the way!]1 But what I really want to rant and rave about (again), is that I'm pretty pissed off at the way that the PC Web stuff works (and looks). I mean, in all fairness, all Web-Browsers look the same (No matter what some Multi-Billionaires would have you believe) but the PC's Web browsers look sssssOOOOoooooooo clunky and Eighties-look-I've-got-a-modem-with-a- thing-that-you-put-the-phone-in style. When you compare it to I-Browse or AMosiac on the Amiga (MUI Web-Browsers) then they kick the PC's Netscape off the deck and into the deep blue sea. It's that good. Unless you don't like MUI (Why not?) in which case you can use the all-singing and all-dancing AWeb-II, which is dead good, but not as pretty. Where was I? Oh yeah, being annoyed. What I'd like the most in the world is an Internet access for my Amiga (as well as a 68060 with 32Mb of RAM). I've used my Dad's PC access so much I'm sure I've put the company into voluntary liquidation, and I can only use it once every two weeks. So what I really need is a modem, as well as the necessary software. The only problem is that I probably can't afford it. That's because I've got no money in the bank, and I'm addicted to going out every Saturday and getting so drunk I can walk all the way home from the nightclub (about 10 miles) without a jacket on, and singing rather loudly. But that's another story. So.... What d'you need to get on the Internet? Well, apart from the obvious (a modem and a telephone line, ISDN preferably), you also need the software. This is where it can all get a little complicated. To be honest, you'd be better off buying a pack such as the "Net&Web" complilation from Hisoft Systems. This costs £89.95 from them direct, and contains IBrowse, Termite TCP and an E-Mail package. *4@4 CALL THEM ON - 0500 223 660*1@1 Ahem....... Or you could go it alone. If you choose this option, then what you'll need is basically this; *3@5 A Modem; A Web-Browser (for the World Wide Web); A service provider (such as Demon Internet, The Net or Compuserve); A TCP package; -optional- An E-Mail Package; -optional- An FTP Mailer. *1@1 Once you have all these things, you're ready to get onto the Internet!! If I were you however, I'd do this; ]51) Buy your modem. (US Robotics are good as well as the Mr. Modem range.) ]52) Get your software. (IBrowse (Web-browser), Miami (TCP connection), AmFTP (FTP client), and AmIRC (for your Internet Relay Chat Adventures).]1 Once you've got that sorted, you're ready to call up your service provider and ask for your Internet Access. After that it's plain sailing........ On the Internet Seas!!!! (Bluuuurgh!).
