˙˙00˙ ˙00˙01˙03˙01The Confession of a Busy Diver˙00 ˙ ˙ ˙03˙02PUH / AGONY ˙02˙01˙01˙00˙ ˙"Of course there'll be plenty of time over for nice dives despite my joining the Army soon", I thought before I had gone to Boden. "Hell, you go home every other weekend, and during those two and a half days, you are free to do whatever you like!" Ten weeks later, my father said to me "Son, are you not well? You have not dived at all this summer!" He was right; A) I wasn't feeling well because B) I had not performed one single dive in ten weeks. When entering the military train for the first time, I did not have the slightest idea of anything; I thought that two and a half days at home were two and a half days off. I was just SO wrong. If you've ever tried to compensate for two weeks on as many a day, you know what I am talking about; it is not possible. Lets say you set a day off for the social sphere you live, i.e. you go out with your friends and have fun (they have, after all, not seen you for twelve days, and you have not seen them either). The following day you have to bring order to your material life, which includes do some shopping, look over your received mail, write a little and call a few buddies. The next half day consists of pure panic and remorse; you have done so little and now you're going away again! It was a mess. It was not until the first of October that I made "my summer's first dive". The place was, as usual, Sisjön, and since I don't want to wear you out with a lot of details on fish and empty beer cans, I'll instead show you my notations from that dive. (unedited and uncut) ˙021st October 1995 Sisjön, Dykarudden Leaving surface: 17:02 Coming back: 18:16 Maximum depth: 16 meters Total time: 1h14 On the shore: Ingmar Nilsson Situation: On my own Övrigt: Took a few nice snaps, this time on KONICA S-XG 400. I love these rapid films! Saw but dimly, why did I not bring my MagLite? No fish, just a bunch of weirdly shaped dead trees. Spiders of Nature. Picked up some trash (the environmental super hero)... 1 empty can of Åbro Premium Pils (I can see why they threw that shit away), 1 Nivea Ultra Creme (well, we are all alike down here miss!), 3 rusty fishing tackles, a half tea cup (1930?), 1 Finesse Schampoo bottle (will there maybe be a Schampoo Test 3? Nature inspired me, you know), 1 Tudor battery (Mercury! Mercury!) and one pair of swimming goggles (the fish won't need that anymore). ˙00Well, that's the way my log book looks like. The idea of writing such a book might appear somewhat strange in your eyes, but I tell you, it's darn funny to read afterwards. And besides, how many other divers can, truthfully, say that they have picked up exactly eight empty bottles of Moosehead? ˙01
