TODAY I'M TALKING TO A MEMBER OF MYSTIC - TO MARS WHO IS A SWAPPER IN THIS GROUP. MARS, TELL US IF MYSTIC IS YOUR FIRST GROUP? [SF2S] 
The first, real group I joined it was THE INTERCEPTORS. INT was famous on the SPECTRUM scene and it tried its hands on the Amiga scene. We wanted to release some fine productions but we did only one intro. I wan to add that I was a graphician in this group and then also a swapper. At the beginning of 94 I joined MYSTIC and it's cool.

HOW DO YOU ESTIMATE THE ATMOSPHERE IN MYSTIC? YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN - HOW YOUR RELATIONS WITH OTHER MEMBERS LOOK LIKE, IF YOU EASY AGREE - YOU KNOW EVERYTHING CONNECTED WITH THE WORD "FRIENDSHIP". [SF2S] 
Generally is cool in MYSTIC. There are no quarrels but I can't name is as total friendship either. There is between several guys a thread of friendship, but I think I'm not a proper person to talk for the whole group. According to me members of MYSTIC are the best and the coolest guys on the scene and that's why I feel so good in this group.

IF WE'RE ALREADY TALKING ABOUT FRIENDSHIP YOU CAN TELL ME WHAT THIS WORD MEANS FOR YOU. WHAT DO YOU THINK - WHY IT IS SAID SO OFTEN ABOUT THIS PHENOMENON ON THE SCENE? [SF2S] 
For me friendship means to be a friend in 100%. As everybody knows it is difficult to find friends in normal life so this phenomenon also doesn't exist on the scene. There are some exceptions but they can't represent the whole scene. Let's take as an example XTD and Kopara. They pretended to be friends, they know each other some time but it doesn't keep them from quarreling. On the scene everybody tries to be cool and friendly because it is in fashion. Also there is fashionable to attack LEGION and everybody does it. So the scene guys write about friendship but they don't belive in it.

I COME BACK TO MYSTIC. YOUR GROUP IS ONE OF THE MOST PRODUCTIVE ONES IN POLAND - AT LEAST ACTUALLY. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SUCH A SUPERB CO-ORDINATION? IS IT XTD? [SF2S] 
Group was created to be productive. XTD enaged people who wanted to do something. Many wanted to become somebody on the scene but so far they didn't have any possibility. Of course it was XTD who controls it all but he doesn't give any conditions. If somebody had an idea and wanted to do something then he just did it. I remember that in Starachowice (The Knight: Mars thinks about first party in Starachowice) only music disk by XTD was supposed to be released. But also DARK ANGEL finished an intro, CHARON - demo. Similiarly there was in Warsaw. I can add that XTD was able to achieve this in what failed NINJA with UNION or NORBY with TRSI. I think everybody knows what I mean.

WHAT IS MYSTIC GOING TO RELEASE IN THE NEAR FUTURE (OF COURSE IF IT ISN'T A SECRET)? [SF2S] 
For the closest party MSS is coding demo, the same is CHARON. Two new packs will be released "Exit" by TRASH HEAD and my "Antics". KATANI and DARK ANGEL are working over Extend's music disk. Besides probably LARSEN and CBM80 are coding demo. So there is some productions to be released. I hope that all of these stuff will be made.

ENOUGH ABOUT YOUR GROUP - READERS WANT TO FIND OUT SOMETHING ABOUT YOU. HOW DID YOU JOINED THE SCENE AND WHEN? [SF2S] 
My first contact with the scene was about 4 years ago. Then I bought Amiga and met XTD. This time I didn't know anything about the scene and I was trying to sell illegal stuff on the computer market where I finally met several scene guys. But I was really interested in the scene after the first CParty in Warsaw. Then I visited first Þywiec, Piîa and show was started. I started to make gfx which was used in the intro by INT and in PRO.S.I.A.K by FCI. There were only fonts but who cares? So my beginnings were rather poor. Then I liked swapping and it is till now.

YOU'RE A SWAPPER. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT BEING A SWAPPER NEEDS SELFDISCIPLINE. YOU KNOW - A GRAPHICIAN OR A MUSICIAN WORKS WHEN HE WANT TO. AND IF YOU ARE A SWAPPER YOU HAVE TO ANSWER LETTERS. IN OTHER CASE A PILE OF LETTERS ON YOUR DESK JUST GROWS. HOW MUCH TIME DO YOUR SWAPPER'S DUTIES TAKE YOU PER DAY? OF COURSE - AVERAGE. [SF2S] 
It depens. Sometimes I don't answer several days but then I start to answer and I can do it even 2 days. Of course with breakes. Swapper's duties we can divide into checking stuff and answering letters. The first one takes me about 1-2 hours, max 3 hours. Answering letters takes me at least 4-5 hours.

HOW MANY CONTACT DO YOU HAVE? [SF2S] 
This question is asked always. Actually I have about 130 contacts. I don't know why but everybody estimates a swapper looking at number of his contacts. This is absurd! For me quality not quantity is important. According to me you can be the best swapper if you have 80 super contacts.

DO YOU WANT TO HAVE THEM MORE OR RATHER YOU WANT TO DECREASE NUMBER OF YOUR CONTACTS? [SF2S] 
Sure, I want to but I have no time and money. In this year I have my exams and I'd like to reduce my swap - I'm planning to decrease number of my contacs and keep about 60-80 the best ones.

WE CAN SAY THAT SWAPPING CAN BE DIVIDED INTO THIS MORE TRADITIONAL (LETTERS) AND BASED ON ACTIVITY OF MODEM TRADERS. I THINK THAT THIS TRADITIONAL SWAPPING IN A BIGGER WAY CONSOLIDATES FRIENDSHIP. WELL, YOU KNOW - LETTERS ARE OFTEN WRITTEN ON PIECES OF PAPERS, VARIOUS THINGS ARE SENT IN ENVELOPES, SCRIBBLED DISKS ETC. HOW WOULD YOU COMPARE ACTIVITY OF SWAPPER AND ACTIVITY OF MODEM TRADER? [SF2S] 
Hard question. To tell the true I've never had access to modem. I think trading is an easier way of swapping. All you need is some money, relations on the post and you have hottest stuff. But in fact traditional swapping based on friendship, is more friendly. Everybody tries to make people curious not only by sending stuff. That's why guys send not only stuff and letters but also additional things - sometimes condoms, pages of CATS and less perverse things.

YOU'VE VISITED MANY CPARTIES. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ABOUT THIS KIND OF EVENTS? [SF2S] 
For me a CParty is the most pleasant kind of scene life. You can meet your friends, drink a bit. Parties are necessary. Every guy connected with the scene awaits every CParty.

IF YOU WOULD ORGANIZE A CPARTY WHAT WOULD BE THE MOST IMPORTAN TO TO DO FOR YOU? [SF2S] 
The first thing I would do was creating special rooms for drinking and smoking. We visit party and we want to enjoy it so smoking and cultural drinking shouldn't be forbidden. Every visiting party should prove that he is at least one year on the scene or that he's a member of well-known group. After this what I saw on party in Bydgoszcz (GELLOWEEN) I state that lamers shouldn't have any possibility to enter party place. Half of people on GELLOWEEN was sitting at front of their computers! I wouldn't want to have such situation during my party.

WHICH OF COPY PARTY YOU VISITED WAS THE BEST? [SF2S] 
Of course it was INTEL OUTSIDE the easiest party I've ever been. Nobody interrupted you, I entered only for a symbolical fee. Superb! We could drink without any limits. But there weren't any serious accidents on this party so I'm sending words of admiration towards the organizers. There was nice compo room, I met my friends, besides we (MYSTIC) managed to win demo compo. It was just cool. Besides I liked first Zywiec as it was my first party.

WITH WHOM DO YOU LIKE TO SWAP THE BEST? [SF2S] 
Another hard question. If we're talking about the West I like swapping with TRASHER/SANITY, MR.KING/TRSI, D-COY/GIANTS so with my oldest contacts. Also I like swapping with MIKE/MYSTIC, REACTOR/MYSTIC, CHRIS/GODS, ALHAZRED/SPASM and CYBORG/NEOPLASIA who always sends cool modules. Every swapper is able to offer me something special which makes swapping with him more exciting. In Poland I like letters from LENIN, SMILE, QBA, WARHAVK, NORBY, STEVE JONES, QUERTY, DAGON very much.... I'm not going to mention all my contacts. Short greets for all mentioned and for IMMORTAL, SKY, ACTION, VIP, WALEC, DAVE, GOOCIOO, KRATKA, INIKEP, MECENAS, COOLERSKY, EXOLON, OBS members.

TELL US ABOUT ADVANTAGES WHICH EVERY GOOD SWAPPER SHOULD HAVE. [SF2S] 
Well, it's rather difficult. Lot of free time, engagement, cool letters, good stuff, nice ideas. Every swapper has his own advantages and disadvantages, something what builds his specific style which is liked or not.

WHO IS IN YOUR OPINION THIS NUMBER ONE IN SWAPPING? TRY TO TELL SEPARATELY ABOUT THE WHOLE WORLD AND POLAND. [SF2S] 
On West actually SPEEDY and MR.KING rule what is a bit strange in my opinion. For me their places should be given to FLYNN/NUANCE, ZINKO/POLKS BROTHERS or NORBY if he won't only give up. And I think that at last TRASHER/SANITY should be esteemed. In Poland there are only two persons - NORBY and LENIN. The only thing is that they are already bored by it. So soon there will be some changes in charts of swapping. Who will take places of NORBY or LENIN? I look at QBA, TRASH HEAD and ACTION. I don't know why ACTION isn't valued in POland. He is one of the best swappers in Poland.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT POLISH SCENE? LET'S SAY - COMPARING TO WESTERN SCENE. [SF2S] 
We have one big disadvantage. Every group wants to release any production and no matter if it will be supperb or completly poor. Take a look at ANDROMEDA. They release their productions rather rarely but if they release something then it is always superb. So I think that sometimes it's worth putting more efforts and work. Besids I can see lack of design in our productions. Now situation is a bit better but it is still not what should be. Only our swappers and musicians have the same level as in the West. Let's look at coders. Do they have own ideas? They are able only copy ideas from the West. Only with one MUSASHI we can be proud of. Graphicians try to be better and better and maybe soon they'll have the same level as the spearhead... Besides Poland is being flooded by wave of lamers. But maybe it'll pass. There are too many swappers.
I get letters from western contacts and they think the same. For example I have about 70 polish contacts. That's parody.

DO WE HAVE ANY CHANCES TO ENTER THE WORLD'S SPEARHEAD IN THE NEAR FUTURE? [SF2S] 
Of course we have. It will be enough to release about three excellent demos and we'll find our places on charts. But who will do them? I'd stake on MUSASHI, CHARON and TOM. To deliver them super graphics, music and design. Still I can't understand why there in Poland we don't use backgrounds under effects. It improves effects so much. So if only Poles would like then who knows...
