PRIVATE MODULES INTRODUCTION The last 5 years I collected quite some nice demos and music-disks. After the purchase of my new A1200 I sadly found out that many of them will never see the daylight again. Luckily I have a very nice collection of modules so I can still enjoy a lot of music from the last 5 years. Many of them were sent directly to me for use on our diskmagazine Newsflash and the UGA PD series. With this new range of PD disks we have found the ideal solution: - New users can enjoy many of the great songs ever made without having to sort out hundreds of Public Domain disks. - Composers have an easy way to show their talent to a worldwide audience. - I have a way to share many of the modules I have collected in the last years with many other musiclovers and get perhaps even more nice tunes. - PC/Falcon users can enjoy them too. I have chosen for the name "Private Collection" because much of the material will come from my own personal collection and private material from other composers and collectors will be added for everyone's benefit. Each piece of music is accompanied by a small picture and a lyric. A nice feature is the "jukebox-mode", but it is a shame that there is a delay when the next module is decrunching. The music is good, especially "Real Motivation" which is the best module with a saxophone in it that I ever heard. A rapid moving demo without boring scroll-texts and with some cool music. The demo starts with a spinning globe, within it a cube. A moment later the globe is inside the spinning cube. Then a beautiful drawn picture of the film MISERY comes on the screen, with the word MISERY spiralling down. Well, I could describe the whole demo, but you have to see it for yourself, because there is so much to see. One thing I will describe and that is the fan. It is a picture of a butterfly that is cut in strips and that is spiralling like a fan in the wind. I know that a lot of people that own an Amiga love Star Trek as well, so I will review this for you. In this diskmagazine you can read about anything that has to do with Star Trek, The Next Generation and the new series Deep Space Nine. I happened to see the pilot from Deep Space Nine, it's great and I can't wait until they'll show it over here in Holland. On the disks you will find news, reviews of books/video/software, pictures, scanned photos of Contagion '92, fanclub addresses and much more. In short: everything a Trekkie wants. Author: Ueli Kaufmann CONTENTS OF DISK 835 -------------------- MandelSquare Yet another program to generate images from the Mandelbrot set, different from most implementations in that it runs only under AmigaOS 2.x, requires an '020/'030/'040 CPU and a numerical coprocessor. The calculation routines were written in '881 assembly language for maximum speed and precision. Also included is a `movie mode' which allows generation of long camera zooms to spots in the Mandelbrot set. The resulting animations can be saved in ANIM-opt-5 format, allowing to replay them using `MandelSquare' or standard animation software.
