The story:

After killing Zelek in the firts two parts of this game you are again
summoned to defeat the evil Maletoth. This is told to you by a vision of
Rekann the magician. You are guided to an airplane, which will fly you to
your destiny. After several hours you plane malfunctions and you have to
bail out. This is the start of the last game in the 'beast' series.

The game:

All owners of the previous games will know what to expect, but for
newcomers I'll tell it again. Beast is basically a platform hack'n slash
game with some feindish puzzles thrown in. You have to find your way around
Kara-Moon in order to find Maletoth and destroy him. You're up to lots of
his minions who are out to stop you at all costs. You can run, jump, crawl,
climb, shoot and all the things a true adventurer can do. You're search
will also be hindered by several puzzles, some simple require you to throw
some switches, others need a little more brainpower.

Your hero is dressed like Indiana Jones without the whip. Instead you throw
shurikan's. He is well animated chap as are all adversaries. Some of the
(animated) monsters you'll encounter are almost a screen big. After being
destroyed they fall apart in bloody pieces of limbs, so no more silly
explosions. The backgrounds are beautifull, parallax scrolling and good use
of moody colours. Some background object are so huge you hve to travel
three screens to see them completely. The music is also very good, with
some excellent sound-effects. And there's the wellknown intro, again one
disk full. It's different dis time, no greyish raytraced animation, but
more a cinemaware-lookalike.

To conclude this story. Beast III is a good game, not excellent but good
in its class. The gameplay is good, although a bit difficult for the
occasional player. The puzzles are less abstract, and it looks great
(again, but that's the sign of the beast). If you have the first two parts
and you really loved them or if you've never eard of it before, this is for
you. If you thought that the first two were so so, skip this one.
