UPDATE
------

Electronic Arts has announced the release of Deluxe Paint IV AGA for
the forthcoming Commodore Amiga 1200 and 4000. Deluxe Paint IV AGA
will retail for GBP 99.99 and will be available in English, French
and German in mid-december 1992.

Deluxe Paint IV AGA features all of the enhancements offered in
Deluxe Paint 4.1, including full-screen morphs, scalable font
support, improved performance in certain painting modes and new
Be Square functions to provide improved aspect ratios. The new
AGA version of Dpaint IV takes full advantage of the AGA chipset
featured in the new machines, allowing full use of HAM 8 mode
for enhanced graphic performance.

Hold and modify, 8 bitplanes deep, is a new mode of HAM with 64 co-
lour registers. Because of the new range of Ham 8, Deluxe Paint IV
AGA gives the user access to over 262.000 colours, as opposed to
4096 colours available in HAM 6 in the original Deluxe Paint IV.
HAM 6 provided 320 * 200 and 320 * 400 modes, whereas HAM 7 provides
resolutions up to 1280*400 in Deluxe Paint AGA. Default mode is
Ham 8 with a 64 colour palette.

Other new features are as follows:

* The user is able to apply the Be Square function to built-in
  brushes, the Circle tool and the Rotated Ellipse tool.
* New screen modes can be chosen by adding or deleting monitors
  in the new screen format requester.
* Full-screen morphs are now possible, the brush size is no longer
  restricted to a 250-pixel width. The only restriction on brush
  size and henze morphing, is memory.
* The keyboard can now be used to interface with requesters.
* The user can specify which preferences he wants from the shell.
* 24-bit IFF file-read support is provided.
* Scalable fonts can be used for text.
* A 2.04, 2.1 and 3.0 compatible Player utility for 8-bit animations
  and images.
* IFF parse library support, meaning that Deluxe Paint IV AGA uses
  AMIGA DOS's own IFF system library.
* Free a Brush feature allows the user to free up memory during
  a project.
