=============================================================================

As written in the headline of this document, you'll probably wonder why
I used this header. Well, explaining all this is very simple. Because
I (Martin Jansen), together with another writer of this magazine, S. M.
Oakland, both report about hardware news I will concentrate on European
news and Mr Oakland on American news.

Because the hardware news couldn't be better described by someone from the
States, S.M Oakland will inform you about the most actual hardware news
from the States. And I will do my best to inform you about the European
hardware developments. If you want to read something about the hardware
news from the USA then just check out the S.M. Oakland section.

But let's continue with all that you've been waiting for.

TURBOCARD
---------

The German firm BSC developed a turbocard for the Amiga 3000. This card has
a 68030 processor on board and includes an 68882 Floating Point Unit. The
clockspeed of this card is 50 MHz. The maximum memory capacity is set to
16 Mb of 32 bit RAM, which also can be used in Burst Mode. The main problem
of this card is, generally, that you have to buy a new set of memory modules
But with the "TurboMaster 3050" you won't have to. Because this card consumes
you old A3000 ram chips (Zip 514400/514402).

Furthermore, this company has made a little box, which must be plugged into
your RGB-port, to work with 256 gray scales in HAM screen mode. The card is
called the "Monoment".

AT-BUS-CONTROLLER
-----------------

Mainhattan Data is able to deliver you the A-team AT Bus controller very
shortly. The controller is auto-configuring, has an autoboot option and
all 16 bit AT hard disk can be plugged into the interface. With the supplied
software it is possible to make a total amount of 8 hard disk partitions.
Two models are yet available : For the A2000 :::> price US$ 140
                               For the A500/1000 :::> price n/a

MEMORY UPGRADE
--------------

The firm Masobosi makes it possible to use a RAM expansion working with zero
wait states. This card, build with SMD components, uses the 4-Mbit chips to
upgrade your memory in your A2000 / A3000. Memory upgrades are available in
2 Mb steps, with a maximum of 8 Mb on board. Prices of this little piece of
technology : Without RAM :::> US$  80
             With 2 Mb   :::>     190
             2 Mb unit   :::>     100

A500 POWER SUPPLY
-----------------

For those persons who have made of their A500 a little hardware store, here
is the solution to fully use all those cards and other add-ons. Because the
normal power supply of an A500 is not powerful enough for all these extra
extensions, 3-State technology has developed a power supply which is able to
do so. This power supply is compatible with the normal supply, but is cooled
internally by a fan. The technical specifications :
200 Watt +5V/20A, +12V/8A  -5V/0,5A -12V/0,5A
Price : US$ 110

VIDEO DIGITIZER
---------------

Macro Systems in Germany offers a new realtime video digitizer card. The
card is called Vlab and suits in the A2000 / A3000 zorro slots. Thanks to
the software upgrade, it is now possible to use the new 24bit IFF-Deep
format. This format, official registrated in USA by Commodore, is developed
by Macro Systems itself. Some features of the sotware are : fully multi-
tasking monitor, digitizes 12 pictures per second, Sequence recording, two
FBAS connectors for Video, Camera etc. etc., OS 2 compatibel and even
recommended to make fully use of its capabilities. Direct useable with the
Harlequin 24bit video-card, Arexx, maximum resolution of 720 * 600 pixels
and no need for an additional RGB splitter. Price :::> US$ 350
                                            A500 / 1000  :::> US$ 380

FLICKER FIXER
-------------

Do you have a 68020, 68030 or a 68040 processor installed with OS/2 in your
system ? If you were looking for a super combi graphics card, the answer
comes from Xpert computer services in Germany. The card is named "Domino"
and offers you a 72 Hz flicker fixer, 32000 colors and realtime graphic-
card. With the Flicker fixer there will be no flickering interlace anymore
on your system. Also a hi-color performance is added to this card. This
means that you can have in 800 * 600 mode, 72 Hz non interlace, 32.768
colors at the screen. In other resolutions, the specs will be :
           -  1024 * 768, 72 Hz non interlace, 256 colors;
           -  1120 * 832, 62 Hz non interlace, 256 colors.

Furthermore, this card is a fast as the Visiona from the same firm, and is put
into a Zorro II slot in your system. Therefor, your videoslot can be used with
a genlock. Price :::> US$ 450.
