-	   HARDWARE TEST:	YAMAHA V-80FD                             -


After long months of patience, we finally saw the DX-7's successor, you
guessed it, it's the YAMAHA V-80FD
 This new synthesizer has a real fresh new look...don't try to make any
comparaison with others synthesizers, you can't ! (except for the keyboard,
of course still five octaves).
There is five "On Board"...yes five ! one IN, one THRU and 3 reprogrammables
OUT !.The LCD screen has a panoramic vision with graphics info.You can
also connect to your AMIGA RGB monitor, that's very cool !
Of course there is a sequencer (32tracks!) including the loop recording.
It allow you to play 32 polyphonics scores and 16 dynamic voices (no cheating!
remember amiga has only four voices! (but soon 16...with cheating !)

*The FM sound has been enhanced: Negative velocity, new pitch and LFO commands.
Well i don't remember everything, sorry ! But the V-80FD's sounds are quite
similar to the DX-7 or DX-7II sounds.There is a Quick edit mode which allow
you to create new sound more easily.64 sounds and performance are available
in RAM and 160 sounds in ROM (with the drums).The Digital Signal Processor
(DSP) feature numeric distortion and delay is programmable...Well, that's
more classical, but worth mentionning it.Also we can notice some great effects
like phasing, "gated reverb", "process" on pitches and so on...
But you can only use one effect at the same time ! Anyway it is very impressive

Another very important point is that this synthe has a 3"1/2 drive.You
can use it to stock your sounds (No joke, eh???!), but also your performance
memory and sequences.

Well, that's it...As a conclusion i would say that this synthesizer belong
to the generation which will take the place of the old DX-7. Sampling
and FM together, that's a nice idea !
