WELCOME TO AMOSZINE ISSUE #11 (March 1996) At last it's here, Az 11 for all you Amos'ers out there. Yip it's late, in fact, it's very late! But there is a reason (yet again)!!! Amoszine is now gonna be released every three months (ie. quarterly) from now on! Plus we shall be trying to keep Az down to only 2-disks from now on. This way we hope to only include quality articles and source code too. A few people were moaning about the price of Az and also about some of the space-filler source on the disks. Yeah, OK, there were times when I bunged on the odd old bit of source to fill up the extra bytes left on the disks, but I would rather fill a disk to the brim than just releasing a partially filled disk. Whatsmore, all the source is archived, so you were actually getting more source via Az than any other Amos disk mag. The best collection of Amos source code anywhere! (Yip, even better than the Amos CD, maybe not quite as much source, but Az has EXCLUSIVE source each issue which is of much better quality than any other files I've seen anywhere). I've been looking at other Amos disk mags and I have to say that Az is still the best as far as source goes. We do need better articles though. That's not to say that Az is lacking in quality articles! Oh no. Who can forget the exclusives from Andy Smith, Paul Overy, Manual Andre and Lee Bamber? The top Amos coders :-) Not fogetting that we also have commercial guys submitting goodies too. Ya know, Mal Lavery, now a commercial gfx artist. He's still loyal to Az. Of course when Az first started we also had guys like Alan Carter and Edmund Clay submitting work also. Alan went all commercial and left Amos (sadly) and Edmund has written one of the finet ever progs ever created with Amos, GR.A.C! Don't forget that Steve Bye is/was a commercial programmer too. He wrote a few commercial games for the Speccy and C64 ya know. (it's true, I've seen the cassettes - thanx Steve) Now we have yet another commercial programmer writing for Az. Dave Kirk is now gonna be a regular contributor to Az. So much so in fact that he is now promoted to Co-Ed! Dave is the guy behind many Licenceware titles and even a full commercial game named International Golf. He is also just about to release (if not already) yet another full commercial titles named World Golf. How he finds time to contribute to Az I'll never know. Az also has its own musician as regulars will know. Mike (Med) Richmond is a well known musician in the Amos/Amiga community. Not only does Mike have articles/mods included with Az, but he also has a lot of work submitted to the world's best selling Med Disk Mag, MUG! (Med User's Group) So let's look at the team then: Commercial Guys still with us: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Phil Wilkinson - Runs the biggest/best Licenceware company - F1! Lee Bamber - Now works for Europress Software. Dave Kirk - Now works for Gremlin. Commercial Guys who have moved on: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Paul Overy - Now works for Anco. Alan Carter - Team 17. Edmund Clay is leaving Amos to learn assembler and C! After all, he is looking for a career in programming commercially - good luck Edmund from everyone at Az. And what about this: These guys have written F1's highest rated software with Amos: Malcolm Lavery - Magic Paint Box - 96% Edmund Clay - GRAC - 95% Andy Gibson - Ult Quiz #1 - 95% Andy Gibson - Ult Quiz #2 - 95% (Full list of top rated software available from Phil at F1) Now sit back and tell me that Az doesn't have the most qualified guys writing for it. Az is the best Amos Disk Mag around. No others come even close. Let's not forget that Az also includes tutorials on other subjects not exactly Amos releated such as Imagine tutorials. Yeah, Richard Martin pops up from time to time to help you get the most out of Imagine. (I hope you all got Imagine 3 on coverdisk recently) Well, that's about all for now. Enjoy the mag .... Andy Gee! End.
