TITLE: AMOS Intuition Extension (by Andy Church) AVAILABLE FROM: F1 Licenceware (TEL: 01392 493580) DISKS: 1 PRICE: £3.99 REVIEWED BY: Dave Kirk Many people, including myself have, at one stage or another, contemplated moving to a different programming language such as BB2, because of AMOS Professional's lack of Intuition support. A new intuition extension has now arrived, is available from F1 Licenceware, and costs only £3.99? There must be a catch? Well, no, there isn't! This is the AMOS utility programmer's dream come true. It offers full access to intuition, with no more complexity than creating an imitation of intuition in an AMOS screen, as performed by Dialog Procedures, Power Procedures etc. There's even a version on the disk for AMOS Classic users! Installation of the extension couldn't be simpler, although I had previously installed the demo version on my copy of AMOS, and made a complete balls-up first time. Just type the extension name into slot 14, and away you go. REMEMBER that the intuition extension is simply called "Intuition.Lib", and NOT "AMOSPro_Intuition.Lib", and everything will be fine. So what can you do with it? You can open Intuition windows, screens, create menus, gadgets, and a bloody good file requester, which alone makes the disk worth the asking price. There's also the usual opening, closing, resizing windows etc, and you can use gadgets and other requesters - in fact - anything intuition can do, can now be performed through AMOS. Even AGA screenmodes are possible, provided you have the hardware! The command format is also straightforward, with many of the commands being direct descendants of their AMOS counterparts. For example:- Screen Open 0,640,256,16,Hires becomes:- Iscreen Open 0,640,256,16,Hires Even if you have the IntOS AMOS extension, you really should have a look at this, because it creates stand-alone programs, without the need for the IntOS.Custlib library or anything similar. It's also much faster than IntOS. Fairly easy to use, fast, powerful? Yeah! That sums up the Intuition Extension quite nicely. FINAL SCORE: 93% Any utility programmer who doesn't get this wants shooting! You too can now create screens through AMOS and drag them all over the bloody place! Great stuff! End.
