ILBM_HSB: Charles Vassallo, Tregastel, France A couple years years ago, Charles Vassallo gave AmigaBASIC an interesting enhancement when he wrote an Assembly rou- tine to load full-screen graphics through a Basic program. Now he's rewritten the original code so it works with pro- grams compiled with HiSoft Basic. WORLD TIME: Jonathan Potter, Goodwood, SA, Australia What time is it in London when you're in Edmonton? World Time will tell you. It sports a configuration file that lets you set the standard for your location. There's a full screen of times for 84 cities of the world, and at no extra cost you get a small clock display that will hang around, reminding you of the time in any city you choose. COVER: J. E. To make it easy, the program gets its screen information from a textfile you can edit to put your own information up in lights, even if you're not a pro- grammer. 11WAYS: J. E. The rou- tines will be of interest to Basic programmers, but you don't need Basic to use the program for your own clever pur- poses. TICKERTAPE: Brian Moats, Boise, ID The wizard of Polyglot Software invites you to insert your own message in his program, then watch it scroll across the bottom of the screen. ESP: Woody Pope, Garland, TX A guessing game in which you try to foretell the next box the computer will choose. You may find you improve over a few rounds. ANAMATH: J. E. Charlsen, Marina del Rey, CA Humor and technique. An experiment in morphing images leads the author to a tongue-in-cheek claim: the discovery of "analog numbers," an infinity of morphed shapes between 0 and 9. PATCHPP: Nico Francois This program will be of use ONLY to users of the commercial version of PowerPacker Professional 3.0a. It upgrades 3.0a to 3.0b. You're going for a drive on a slot car track with a computerized opponent out to blast you off the road. And you get a bonus -- a course construction set. TRAFFIC SIGNS: Robert Wade, Barksdale AFB, LA Education. Geared to what a beginning driver faces in a dri- ving test, this program tutors and tests on meanings of signs encountered on highways. STOPWATCH: Joseph Rattz Jr., Sumter, SC Utility. Makes timing computer events a breeze, especially since this little multitasking program can be jumped onto new screens where the action is. BIO: Peter Heinrich, Federal Way, WA Entertainment. Nah, we don't believe in biorhythms, either. But that didn't stop us from enjoying this excellent program. Oops, creativity is down! Better take off the rest of the day. SHADOWS: Brian Buell, Chandler, AZ Utility. One of those neat programs to add panache to a Workbench screen. It outlines everything on the screen, providing sharper definition. REMAPINFO: Nico François, Bertem, Belgium Utility. WB 1.3 and 2.0 have switched black-white palette colors. This switches those colors for best appearance under either system. MORSE CODE: Woody Pope, Garland, TX Education. Dih-dih! Dah-dih-dih! The next time somebody sends you an SOS, you'll know what to do. A nice course in Morse Code? CONVERSION: Steve Marsh, Chesterland, OH Programming. This program, which performs metric conversions for 31 measurements, is one of two examples, with the au- thor's beginner's tutorial on arrays. The package also comes with another program, DEAL, a staff-written tutorial on randomly dealing cards. FKEYS: Brian Buell, Chandler, AZ Utility. A background program that activates several func- tion keys to perform tasks: opens CLI, blanks screens, sends windows fore and aft . . . TOFRONT: Brian Buell, Chandler, AZ Utility. Put the mouse over any visible part of a window, and the entire window is revealed. Saves that onerous shif- ting around of windows in search of the one you really want. JUMPBLANKER: J. E. Charlsen, Marina del Rey, CA Display Technique. A "blanker" is a screen phosphor saver that puts someactivity on the screen after a preset period of keyboard or mouse inactivity.
