BERSERKER LINK VIRUS CHECKER =============================== V 0.7 ----- © Copyright 1990 by Ralf Thanner The code is entirely written in assembler for the Kuma Seka assembler INFORMATION =========== The 'BLVC' is a simple and easy to use file checker. He looks for two brand new LINK VIRUSES, the CENTURION and the 'Traveling Jack'. 'BLVC' removes the virus from the infected programms. Use 'BLVC' to check the file loaded, just before the new 'BERSERKER 5.0' showed its alert. To check a complete disk or hard-disk use other checker. HOW TO USE: =========== 1.) CHECK FILES ----------- - 'STARTUP AUTOCHECK' - checks all programms in the startup-sequence. (limitations below) If it finds suspicious one, a requester appears and 'BLVC' writes the healed program back to disk. - 'JACK & CENTURION' - here you have to choose the files which have to be checked manually. 2.) DELETE ------ A simple file delete. 3.) ABOUT ----- What do you think??? 4.) QUIT ---- You can leave 'BLVC' either with 'Amiga+Q', this menuoption or by closing the window. IMPORTANT NOTE ============== 'BLVC' needs the REQUESTER.LIBRARY. for further informations about this library, read the docs of 'NOISEPLAYER V3.0' or 'Cygnus Ed'. ****************************************************************************** REVISION HISTORY ++++++++++++++++ V0.5 - a simple and dirty programmed checker and remover. - supports 'NTSC' - removes 'CENTURION' and 'JACK' link viruses. V0.6 - 'BLVC' should now work perfect -> no GURUS anymore (this version was made two days after V0.5, since I don't like to be the whole day in 'GURU' country!) - STARTUP-SEQUENCE check is a lot faster now, I first check the filelength. ( it's useless to check files files shorter than 2400 bytes ) - Message if 'REQUESTER.LIBRARY' is not available. ( only when started from CLI ) - Message if file is clean. V0.7 - improved 'Traveling Jack' searcher. -> finds now the mutant version. - Fixed bug in 'CENTURION REMOVER'. Any amount of HUNKS is now handled correctly.( older versions healed only files with two hunks [GRMMPF] ) -> thanks to SCHNEEGOLD for recognizing this bug! - WORKBENCH support added. - Fast checker ( there is no need to load the whole file to recognize a link-virus ) - Code cleanup. ( still a mess, but getting better! ) - Message if file wasn't checked due to its length. - Changed the layout. - 'BLVC' checks now memory in order to detect 'JACK' & 'CENTURION' and removes them. FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS ++++++++++++++++++++ - better startup-sequence checking, you can confuse 'BLVC' with lots of TABS, SEMICOLONS, REMARKS etc. - 'BLVC' is not able to handle lines in the st.-seq. like 'DF0:ss/assembler-tools/BERSERKER'. - Hard-disk support.
