---------------------------------------------------------- Ladies and gentlemen, ready take your shot of highly toxic megademos, demos and musicdisks ? by John 'Boil' van Dijk ---------------------------------------------------------- A great megademo this month to review and some fantastic 'short' demos scattered around the place. I also must say that I recieved a megademo from the Silents. But it contained many R/W errors so I wasn't able to watch more than 2 demos. Review will follow when I get the correct version (Heeellllpppp !) ..... On a Venom demodisk I found a demo from Fairlight called 'Bobbasnurkel'. Bad music but grrrreeeaaat scroll. It cointains some movements and ideas which are really worth watching. On the same disk a demo from Humanoids and Upfront with (at least they say) 929 (little) bobs, well can't say much about these demos only that this one contains better music. Good reputation group Rebels also features with a demo called 'VECTORY', (I love that name ?), coded by Droopy and music from Static. It gives a large summary of all vector-oriented routines like vectorballs, vectors and math-vectors. The only thing I missed in this demo are filled vectors (c'mon guys?). With some original texts quite a fab demo ... From a Scoopex disk (you know that washing powder) comes the SEA, (Share and Enjoy) demo called 'Tremlo goes to pieces' and it is infact 2 demos in one. The question here is not : What can you control ? but better : What can't you control ? ... Fantastic 'heavy' music and take an asperine after you've seen everything bounce, shake and flicker. The Celtic demo 'Bob revolution' with a mere 700 bobs contains several parts and some good music. Especially the 'Fair' screen is nice. Only the bobs are very boring and the movement formulas are simple. The 'super snurkel twist' from Robotech rips off an idea but improves it by trippling the circle bouncing scroll with some cool musak. The 'Eurochart' from the Crusaders is a bimonthly disk with charts chosen by voters all over the world. Anyone can enter in catagories like : Games, (disk)magazines, demos, music, graphics, groups, movies, videos and my favourite 'The joke of the month' (Not those sick jokes you have Martyn!) Feel free to vote and send it to : CRUSADERS "CHART", Ovre ralingsv. 80 B, 2000 LILLESTROM, NORWAY (No funny symbols?!?) ........... The best this month was (no doubt) the : 116-117 KEFRENS MEGADEMO VIII ----------------------------- The 2 disk megademo opens with a nice loader using a sort of filled vector titler. Kicking off is Jason with his demo called 'Snake bite'. It features a large snake head lighted by a large lamp and some nice tricks together with 'atmosphere' music makes it certainly way above average. Second a dude called Gizwiz (Do NOT say this name to often if you have fake teeth) with his demo 'Rotate' .... yes you guessed it .... vectors ..... But nice vectors I must say accompanied by the main theme of 'Fletch' and some cool background rasters it isn't bad entirely. Rock around by Metallion contains umpteen logos (whadda ya mean egotripping?) and some cool musak. Incronite's Chaos has a rather original wacky scroll. Mellica scores with a BEAST like demo called 'Kill the beast' or 'Revenge of the beast' or 'Beast II' (ahh what does it matter ....) The diskswitch isn't impressive (which diskswitch ?!?) and on the second disk Incronite has the honour to begim with (raaaahhh) yet another vectordemo (After regaining consciousness ...) Quick to the next demo from Murphy called 'Vector Maniac' ( ... serious re-animating ... ) with I have to admit one of the best filled vector/vector bob demo I've seen. Promax with 'Kill Victor' ( ... only 2 lives left ... ) with also a filled vector demo with even larger objects as his friend Murphy did. He says that his objects are real-time calculated (meaning that he does all calculations for the object in one interrupt) although he doesn't state that he fills his objects 50 times a second. The musak's ok. The end demo has some fantastic music but I'm NOT going to say what it contains because it would kill me! Do you know it ? send your answers to : Boil-a-demo Po box 68 3480 DB HARMELEN HOLLAND Also if you want to order from my diskserie or want some information about it .... He .. and ... erm ... check out 'The Plague' demo and buy the game. Also check out 'The best of .. Al Brimble' real hot stuff. C.U. in Newflash # 10 John.
