WELCOME TO THE FANTASY ZONE [Encore]

Elite have decided to repackage their original Space Harrier conversion
released some time ago along with another disk comprising the rest of the
levels of the Arcade version. Elite claim that this is now a complete
version and is such probably the best conversion of Space Harrier, certainly
on a computer [not counting Megadrives and the like].

For those unfamiliar with Space Harrier (WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN??) the game
sees you pitted as the Space Hero sent to clear zones of evil, supernatural
creatures and dragons. The game takes place in a fast, 3D scrolling 
landscape with trees, rocks, boulders and the like flying quickly towards
you. You are aimed with a laser gun and have to take the meanies and 
obstacles out, at the end there is usually a large dragon to blast to bits.
If you survive long enough though you get to ride on one in the bonus level.

As conversions go, its an excellent one, also it is FULL SCREEN (as all
Elites titles tend to be nowadays THANKS ELITE!) and plays very similar to
the original game. It also looks similar with the familiar chequerboard
floor, large, fast graphics and smooth movement. Sound is the only weakpoint
(as it seems with many of Elites releases) and the samples and music are well
below the standard that can be expected on the Amiga. 

The second disk represents a much tougher challenge and not being the worlds
best gamesplayer, I struggled to make much progress but other players 
should enjoy it none-the-less.

As value goes, its not that good if you`ve played it much before or have
already got the first version, but for new Amiga users and Space Harrier
fans it represents a good buy, a good conversion for a good price! 

Grandslam are due to release SPACE HARRIER II in Feb/march so it will be
interesting to compare the two packages. Rather ironic that Elite decided
to release a repackaged Space Harrier around the same time.. or is it??
