GAME REVIEW : CHASE H.Q. PRODUCED BY : OCEAN SOFTWARE PRICE : £24.95 Another game that has been eagerly awaited by driving fans all over the world is this, Chase HQ. Another massive hit in the arcades this game saw you in an Outrun scenario racing across the country attempting to capture and ram criminals off the road in your black Porsche 928. Well thats about it for the plot, its all fast-speed, hairpin bends, sirens and violence.. The arcade hardware was once again top-notch.. how would this fair in the conversion stakes? Ocean have a reasonably good record of late for arcade conversions with Operation Wolf and New Zealand Story amongst others (even if both were ported) and they gave the job of converting Chase HQ to the guys responsible for coding Continental Circus (a racing game that was playable if nothing special). I must say that having seen and played Chase HQ in the arcades I was somewhat disapointed with the result of the Amiga conversion, promises where made to use the extra speed capabilities and colour facilities of the Amiga to make a much better conversion.. after seeing it I can only say "Where?" The road movement is slower than anticipated and seems to go at the same speed whatever your cars speed, the colours are drab and in places gaudy and unsightly. Sound is nice, perhaps the only feature the Amiga could possibly offer to redeem this game. I'm afraid I was soon driven away myself and didn't like the result of what had been hyped for a few months and find the prospect of it being No.1 or thereabouts at Christmas a bit concerning. Another case of "Surely there are enough Amiga owning people to warrant individual Amiga program development?"
