Requires WorkBench 1.2;

HandyIcons and HandyWB are patched to work with DOS 1.3 ROMs
by Khalid Aldoseri (CIS 75166,2531).  These patches work for
me so they should work fine with anyone.


HandyIcons is an extension to the Workbench menu strip which
permits the user to run user-selectable Tools by menu selection.

The present version only supports Workbench Tools - not Projects.
The number of Tools is limited to font size & current vertical resolution
of your Workbench screen.

Tool Selection
--------------

Tools can be selected by the user in two ways:

               * Workbench Extended Selection
               * Workbench Tool Types

Extended Selection is the fast and more flexible method of selection.
The Tools selected in this way will be displayed in the menu before those
selected by Tool Types. To use this technique:

       * Open disks, drawers, ect. to display the Tool Icons of interest

       * Press the mouse select button over a blank part of the screen
         or window to insure de-selection of all other icons

       * Select the HandyIcons icon

       * Select your menu Tools While continuing to press a Shift key

       * Release the Shift key, go to the Workbench menu and choose Open
         ( Shortcut: On the last Tool double-click while Shifting )

Tool Types is the way to select Tools without going through
the effort of Extended Selection every time.  It's possible to use Extended
Selection and Tool Types simultaneously, but if you select more Tools
than displayable, Tools at the bottom of this list won't be rendered
in the menu. To use this technique:

       * Select the HandyIcons icon

       * Choose Info from the Worbench menu

       * Select the Add gadget & Type Pathname(s) to your Tool(s)

       * Select the Save gadget when finished

       The next time you run HandyIcons these Tools will automatically
be included in your menu. Some examples & suggestions:

               Clock          ________________ /These Tools would be in the

 Group      \  Extras:AmigaBASIC               /It's wise to use
 Directories > Extras:Tools/MicroEmacs -------< Volume names (Extras:)

       Note: Even though it's permissible to use relative pathnames, your
safest bet is using full volume & pathnames. This insures HandyIcons will
find the Tool no matter what directory HandyIcons currently resides.


HandyWB
-------

       We now have a means to start HandyIcons from a CLI.
Only the Tool Types method of selection applies but - by placing it in
your startup-sequence - it's possible to have menu access to your tools
immediately after booting.

       Using HandyWB without any arguments defaults to looking for
HandyIcons in Sys:System drawer (Sys:System/HandyIcons). If for some
reason you don't want HandyIcons there, simply add the real pathname
as the first argument.

       Examples:   LoadWB   - or -  LoadWB
                   HandyWB          HandyWB Extras:Tools/HandyIcons

To take advantage of this:

       * Copy HandyWB to your C: directory

       * Copy HandyIcons into Sys:System or somewhere (hopefully)

       * Edit your startup-sequence and place HandyWB after LoadWB

       Even though I can't permit multiple instances of HandyIcons
running concurrently, there's nothing preventing you from making multiple
disk copies, each with its' own Tool Types list. Perhaps "HandyIcons-DP"
for you desktop publishing environment or "HandyIcons-PRO" for programmimg.
    
      When starting these copies using HandyWB there is one naming
restriction. The first ten characters must be "HandyIcons" and case IS
significant.
