Antwerp, july 15th, 1989. About M.i.A. Disk... -------------------- M.I.A. Disk is the latest step in the new generation of innovative Public Domain Disk Magazines. With the help of our own in-house programmers, and our American programming team, we are attempting to bring you the most useful public domain programs from around the world. Our programmers, most of which have worked for professional software firms, will be working hard to bring you the NEWEST and BEST of Public Domain programs from across the globe. The Amiga wouldn't be where it is today without the work of the programmers. Many of them had their start by working in the public domain. Now, with the spread of world-wide telecommunication networks, we are able to bring you the LATEST and GREATEST work of both fresh and old talents on the Amiga field. We constantly keep up to date with the latest software from around the world. Our international branch in America covers most of the data networks and via-satellite, literally gives us new programs hours after they are released into the public. With this advantage, we are able to thoroughly examine the latest in public domain and bring you the most crea- tive and useful programs for the Amiga. The first three issues of the M.i.A. Disks will be distributed for free by M.i.A. Software. Starting from issue #004 we will ask for a fee of BFrs 210 (FFr 35,00 / US $ 5,20 / DM 10,50) or its equivalent in another currency. Also, starting from issue #004 we will protect all M.i.A. Disks with a BACK- UP protection. You will still be able to copy all P.D. stuff available on those disks upon another disk with any File-Copier of your choice, but the main program, as well as the incorporated File-Copier, will be BACKUP pro- tected. ____________________________________________________________________________ M.i.A. Disk IS A VERY USER-FRIENDLY PUBLIC DOMAIN DISK... How does M.i.A. Disk work ? --------------------------- If you have an Amiga 1000, boot up with kickstart and insert the M.i.A. Disk into the internal drive. Otherwise, turn on your Amiga and insert the disk. Please wait about 12 seconds... you should then see the MAIN MENU. Just take the Amiga mouse and slide over the windows. As soon as a window is HIGH- LIGHTED and you would like to load the HIGHLIGHTED program, press the left mousebutton. It will load one of the sub-menus. The loading won't take longer than 2 or 3 seconds. Depending on how long the available docs for the chosen programs are, you will have to wait for a few more seconds. Then you will be able to read the docs of the program or to run it. How do I make a copy of the program, docs and files onto another disk ? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- When in the sub-menu of the program you picked out, just click on the COPY gadget. A requester will open. Now click on the RIGHT MOUSEBUTTON, then simply click on the device you want to copy to. If that device is not pre- sent in the requester, just type the device # (DH0:, DH1:, RAM: etc.) you want to copy to in the DRAWER window. Then click O.K., and the directory you're in as well as its complete files (docs, asm etc. etc.) will be copied to the destination you have choosen. For your convenience... ----------------------- Good to know is that we (for internal facilities) renamed all .DOC files to .PGI (program information). Feel free to rename all .PGI files to .DOC again if this seems to be more to your liking. ATTENTION... WE WILL ALWAYS TRY TO HELP YOU AS MUCH AS WE CAN: -------------------------------------------------------------- If a program needs certain files in one or more of the system's directories, or if a program is not able to run on a M.i.A. Disk because we would have too much lost space putting all those files needed to run it, and which are always available on the system's Workbench disk, or if, due to memory allo- cation, a program will force the system to crash we will ALWAYS warn you beforehand. You will find these warnings (if applicable) at the beginning of each of the DOC Files. ____________________________________________________________________________ What else is there to tell? --------------------------- For this first issue of M.i.A. Disk, I would like to thank the following people for without their help, programming, suggestions, and encouragement, M.i.A. Disk would have never been possible. Most of all, I'd like to thank you for investing the time in our M.i.A. disk. We hope that we have lived up to your expectations. We are working hard to bring you the most useful tools for the amiga.
