#$VER: VLabHelp 1.3 (15.4.92)
This file contains a short description on each menu-item of
VLab. In spite of that fact, please read the documentation
carefully, because there the functions are explained in detail.

#ABOUT
This Requester gives some information about the program.
(Things like current version-number, name of the arexx-port
and name of the VLab-Public-Screen.

#AUTODISPLAY
If active, the Amiga-picture will be displayed after it has been
converted.

#AUTOPREVIEW
If active, the YUV-picture will be displayed as preview
after it has been changed, e.g. after loading a picture
or snapping a new picture.

#AUTOSAVEENV
If active, the settings will be saved automatically after
your VLab-session is terminated. The settings will be automatically
re-loaded at any time you start a new session.

#AUTOUNDO
If active, the YUV-picture in memory will be buffered when it is
going to be changed. With 'Get back picture (Undo)', you can
get back the previous picture.

#AUTOUSEENV
If active, the settings of VLab will be saved for your next
restart. The settings will not survive a reset, it is only
temporarily.

#BLACKBACKGROUND
If active, the background-color will be black after converting
a YUV-picture into an Amiga-picture.

#CLEAR ALL
All internal buffers will be cleared.

#CLEAR UNDO
The additional buffer will be cleared.

#CLOSEWINDOW
The currently active window will be closed.

#CONVERT
The YUV-picture will be converted into an Amiga-IFF-picture of
the previously chosen type. This procedure can take several
seconds or even minutes, depending on the speed of your
computer.

#CONVERTMODE
This command sets the picture type, that will be used for the
YUV-Amiga-conversion. If 'Hires' is aktive, the YUV-picture will
be converted into a Hires-Amiga-picture, otherwise it will be
scaled to Lores.

#CONVERTMODE BW
If active, the YUV-picture will be converted into a B/W-picture.

#CONVERTMODE COLOR
If active, the YUV-picture will be converted into a
color-picture.

#CONVERTMODE HAM
If active, the YUV-picture will be converted into a HAM-picture.

#COPYTOUNDO
The current YUV-picture is going to be copied into a second
buffer and can be get back with 'Get back picture (Undo)'.

#DEINTERLACE
With this option, unsharp effects caused by movements within a
fullframe picture will be removed by calculations. This makes
it possible to avoid these effects without loosing the higher
resolution of a full frame.

#DELETEFILE
After opening a file requester, a file can be deleted completly
with its eventually existing icon.

#DELETEMACRO
The Execute-requester will be opened and you can enter the name of the
macro you want to remove from the VLab-macro-list. The macro will not be
deleted on disk.

#DISPLAY
A previously converted Amiga-picture will be displayed.

#DITHER
If active, the Floyd-Steinberg-dithering-algorythm will be used
while converting a YUV-picture. This makes it possible to get
good pictures even if you have only a few grey levels or colors.
Converting a color-picture this funktion takes quite a long
time.

#ERASEPREVIEW
The Window containing a preview-picture will be cleared.

#EXPORT24
The current YUV-picture will be converted into an
RGB-24-bit-picture and saved as IFF-file. This should be
operable with all common Amiga-videoprocessing-software. It is
not recommended to use it for YUV-picture-saving because the
procedure takes quiete a long time and the file will be very
long.

#EXPORTAMIGA
The previously converted Amiga-IFF-picture will be saved in
IFF-form.

#FONT
You can load a window-font of your choice. VLab works fine even with
proportional fonts. The layout of all windows will be changed
automatically.

#FONT DEFAULT
As current window-font VLab will use the 'System-default-font', which
is also used by the Amiga-shell.

#FONT TOPAZ 8
Current window-font will be 'topaz 8'.

#FONT TOPAZ 11
Current window-font is 'topaz 11'.

#FONT USER
Current window-font is the previously defined 'Disk-font'.

#MACRO
Macros, defined by 'Load macro...' will be placed here. You can
delete a Macro using the VLab-command 'DELETEMACRO Name'.

#MONITOR
The monitor-option can be activated and deactivated.

#MONITORPRI
The priority of the monitor-process can be toggled. If it is
high, the monitor is refreshed during calculations. In this
case the calculations are of course slower caused by the
calculating time required by the monitor process.

#MONITORSIZE
If active, the monitorwindow will be resized to 200% . The refreshrate
will decrease significantly caused by the four times higher amount of
data.

#OPEN
A filerequester to open a YUV-picture will be opened. Besides
the YUV-standard, you can also load the special VLab-pictures
recorded by the VLab-sequence-recording.

The Colorcorrection-window will be opened.

#OPENWINDOW COMMAND
A window will be opened which allows the input of a
VLab-ARexx-command.

The Source-selector will be opened.

#PREVIEW
A rapidly converted preview of the YUV-picture will be displayed.
The quality is of course much lower than the results of the
slower 'Convert'.

#PREVIEWMODE
The preview-mode can be chosen. With 'Scaled' aktive, the size
of the picture will be reduced to fit the current window, this
will last some extra seconds. 'Full frame' currently only works
in conjunction with the Harlequin-card. 'Color' selects if the
preview is calculated in color or in black-and-white. A preview
in a window always is displayed in black-and-white.

#PREVIEWOUTPUT WINDOW
If active, the preview will be displayed in an own window on the
VLab-screen.

#PREVIEWOUTPUT BACKDROP
If active, the preview will be displayed on the background of
the VLab-screen.

#PREVIEWOUTPUT SCREEN
If active, the preview will be displayed on an own screen of
the chosen size and resolution.

#PREVIEWOUTPUT HARLEQUIN
If active, the preview will be displayed over the Harlequin-Card
in 24-bit-format. Because the quality is very high you really
cannot call this a preview!

#QUIT
Termintates the current VLab-session. A safety-requester is
displayed only if 'Safety requesters Many' is selected.

#SAVE
The current YUV-picture will be saved. You will get a warning
if such a file already exists.

#SAVEAS
The YUV-picture will be saved, you will be asked for a
file name previously. You will get a warning if such a file
already exists.

#SAVEICONS
Automatically generates icons at saving pictures, macros or
settings. For this function the VLab-Default-Icons have to be
present in the directory 'ENV:VLab'.

#SAVESETTINGS
Saves custom settings.

#SAVESETTINGS ENV:VLAB/VLAB.PREFS
Temporarily saves settings -- they will not survive a reboot.

#SAVESETTINGS ENVARC:VLAB/VLAB.PREFS
Durably saves settings -- they will survive a reboot.

#SAFETYLEVEL LOW
When active, VLab is not going to display safety requesters
and warnings. Only Errors will be highlighted.

#SAFETYLEVEL MEDIUM
If active, VLab will brings safety requesters and warnings
only at important points.

#SAFETYLEVEL HIGH
If active, VLab will bring safety requesters at any small
problem.

#SCAN
Digitizes a picture and copies it automatically into the
YUV-buffer from which it can be displayed, converted or saved.

#SCANMODE
Here you can fix the way the picture should be stored into the
YUV-buffer after it has been digitized. If 'Full frame' is
active, VLab will read a full-frame-picture. You have to select
'Color' if you decide to scan color-pictures. If you did not select
'Hires' the picture will be converted to Lores immediately.

#SCREENDEPTH 1
Sets the VLab-screen to only 2 grey levels.

#SCREENDEPTH 2
Sets the VLab-screen to 4 grey levels.

#SCREENDEPTH 3
Sets the VLab-screen to 8 grey levels. We recommend this mode
for a good quality of the monitor-option.

#SCREENDEPTH 4
Sets the VLab-screen to 16 grey levels. The speed of the Amiga
will be reduced significantly by such a screen. The
monitor-window may start flashing because blitter effects will
occur.

#SCREENFONT
You can load a screen-font of your choice. VLab works fine even with
proportional fonts. The layout of all menus will be changed
automatically.

#SCREENFONT DEFAULT
As current screen-font VLab will use the 'System-default-font', which
is also used by the Amiga-shell.

#SCREENFONT TOPAZ 8
Current screen-font will be 'topaz 8'.

#SCREENFONT TOPAZ 11
Current screen-font is 'topaz 11'.

#SCREENFONT USER
Current screen-font is the previously defined 'Disk-font'.

#SCREENMODE WORKBENCH
VLab will open all its windows on the Workbench-screen. For
correct colors of 'Preview' and 'Monitor' please use the
Palette-Presets in 'Prefs:Presets/VLab'.

#SCREENMODE DEFAULT
If active, VLab will perform on an own screen which is identical
with the Workbench-screen in size and color depth.

#SCREENMODE HIRES
If active, VLab will perform on an own HiRes-Screen.

#SCREENMODE HIRESLACE
If active, VLab will perform on an own HiRes-Interlace-Screen.

#SCREENMODE PRODUCTIVITY
If active, VLab will perform on an own Productivity-Screen, if
ECS is available and the Multiscan-monitor has been announced
accordingly.

#SEQUENCENAME
Using a file-requester, the path and name of a sequence which
should be grabbed can be entered. VLab will append a successive
number to the name for each picture.

#SEQUENCE CONTINUE
You can continue a previously terminated sequence-recording.

#SEQUENCE START
The digitizing, importing and saving of a sequence will be
started.

#SEQUENCE STOP
The digitizing, importing and saving of a sequence will be
interrupted.

#SEQUENCEMODE
You can select the way in which the picture will be stored in the
YUV-buffer. If 'Lace' is selected, you will get a fullframe picture,
otherwise only one frame. To get a color-picture you have to select
'Color'. With 'Hires' active you will get a Hires-picture otherwise
Lores.

#SPECIALCONVERT
If active, you can calculate pictures the Amiga can not display
without additional hardware. You may transfer them to other
computers.

#UNDO
You can get back the additional picture previously stored
by 'Copy to Undo-buffer' or 'Auto-Undo' (Undo).

#VLABRESET
The VLab-hardware will be resetted. The Amiga will not be
affected by such a reset.

#VTRMODE
This enables the 'Time-Base-Correction' of a video cassette
recorder. This is required to grabb from running VCRs. An
external TBC is not required for VLab at all.

#WORKBENCH
The Workbench can be closed or opened in order to control
the available memory.

#YUVTOLORES
A Hires-YUV-picture will be converted to Lores.
