THE P.D. CHART The Idea of having a chart for the best selling PD went down well, and many of you indicated on your questionaires that you thought it would be a good idea.So here, after many hours going through ALL our records, is the 17-Bit Software Amiga PD Top Twenty (in reverse order of course): (Sing in Radio 1 Style for the atmosphere) Number 20 - Disc 11 The Aegis Animator Demo featuring one of my favourite Demos the El Gato cat animation. Number 19 - (With just 5 more sales) comes disc 74 Utility Disc 3. The first of 4 Utility discs to make it into the chart. Number 17 - (No we havn`t missed one out), are the Holsten Pils Advert starring the one and only Gryff Rhys-Jones and Disc 72, Utility disc 1 which includes, amongst many more great utilities, a Slideshow Program for making your own Slideshows. Number 16 - Then comes the Great SAM (Greatest Hits) FOX slideshow disc number 59. Needs no explanation its just one of those discs you`ve GOT to have!! <*> More Number 15 - The fabulous Tech-Tech demo from those great Danish programmers- Magician 42 & Sodan! Number 14 - Disc 2 a great Slideshow. (Well what the hell do you want me to say, you`ve got to admit there isn`t a lot to say about a slideshow, except that it has pictures.) Number 13 - Disc 17 takes unlucky 13th place. This is the second Sculpt 3D demo & includes one of Martyns favourites - BIRDS. Number 12 - Disc 76 - the First Sonix Jukebox. Included on this disc is the Groovy (Well Dave thinks it is - Paul.), Goldrunner theme. Number 9 - Disc 71 - Games Disc 1 My Highlight of the Disc has to be the Amoeba Invaders. Disc 83 - GRAVVATTACK!! Brilliant Stuff, PD cynics should take a look at this disc. Amazingly addictive and just oozes gameplay. Disc 16 - The first Sculpt 3D demo - Anyone who hasn't seen the unbelievable Kanahkas (Glad I spelt that one wright.), should buy this disc IMMEDIATELY! <*> Number 7 - (with just 1 more sale than disk 73) is disc 40 - The full screen slideshow. Number 6 - Just outside the top 5 is disc 77 - the second of our great Sonix Jukeboxes. Featuring the excellent Tubular Bell instrumental by Mike Oldfield. Right Cue the Fanfare as we move into the top 5! Number 5 - Disc 14 - the first of the Now Thats What I Call Music Compilations. Number 4 - Disc 64 The Hilarious toilet paper advert.Not for the easily offended but another must for your collection. (Cert X) Number 3 - A Surprize entry at number 3 is disc 66 The CLI Utility disc. (Very useful utilities on here such as a Boot Control program and a Play Command to play sonix tunes independantly of, you guessed it Sonix.) Number 2 - The Classic Fantasy Digitised slideshow disc 57 makes it into the chart at number 2. (CERT X) GET READY FOR NUMBER 1... <*>  <*> Here is number 1 folks the one you have been waiting for.  Number 1 - With an absolutely massive lead above the rest is ..... *** Disc 6 -- The Probe Sequence *** Another classic Amiga Demo to show to all your friends (especially those with an ST, they can be a jealous lot these ST owners.) Now for disks that are Bubblin' Under the charts at the moment :- Discs that sold well but didn't quite make the chart are : 144 - BFPO - Lovely Slideshow but Don't show your mother! 127 - Intro Disc 6 80 - The 17-Bit Sampler 42 - Intro Disc 1 56 - Digi Slideshow 28 - The Pop Music Demo <*> THE P.D.CHARTS continued ... Well, what did you think of the chart? Did your favourite discs make it? If not you know what to do - just buy 50 copies of the disc! Seriously though - I was suprised to see number 6 in at number 1 but it is a great demo, it also has the advantage of being an early disc, so it will have been on sale quite a bit longer than the later additions, (Well said Mr Dave "Bloody Obvious" Clegg) Remember this chart covers ALL PD sales from when the club first started, so obviously the early stuff does have an advantage but I can think of no other way to work out a chart - any suggestions. This article was written by Dave (our latest recruit), whilst I was down at the PCW show, (well I certainly wasnt looking through all the cards and counting PD sales!!) and really the thanks must go to the GPO, without whom it would not have been possible to do a PD sales count. (IE they were on strike!) Obviously with a few more doing the editorial and letters we can handle more mail and handle it quicker so if you've got a point to raise (ooh-err) then get in touch with either myself or Dave at our usual address.
