  Installing
  ~~~~~~~~~~
 First off, /X means Ami-Express for those that don't know already. Now,
to install the door load up the Customcommands (/X v2.2x or below) or
BBS.CMD (/X v2.3x). Now load up the file in a text editor and all the
following:
          11 Spaces In
          |
--------------------------------
*COM      RM050Doors:VDCompress
--------------------------------
||        |||  |
||        |||  ` 'Doors:VDCompress' is the actually location of the file.
||        |||     Make sure not to change this.
||        |||
||        ||` 050 Is the minimum access to use this door. Change it to what
||        ||      you like.
||        ||
||        |` M For a mutilnode bbs (S For single)
||        |
||        ` R For an rexx type door which will use the 'Rexxdoor' Util
||
|`Letter to bring the door up on the board. In this case 'COM'
|
`-Retard Option. To Make Sure they only use 'COM' & only 'COM' to get the
door to come up. If not used, things such as 'Come' and 'Comand' would
still bring up the door.
 Use the line between the lines only. The other parts are just an
explanation to make sure you know what each part is doing (Since no one
would tell me back in the days where I didn't know what was going on!)
 Now copy the 'VDCompress', the 'VDCompress.Prefs' , and the
'VDCompress.Help' file to the doors: dir. The VDCompress is the only file
needed to run the file. The other two are optional, but should be used.
More about these two extra files after.
 Copy the 2 rexxplus libs into your libs: dir, because the compiled doors
need these libraries in order to work.
 You also need the Copy, Delete and Lha files copied to your C:, but you
probably already have them anyway so this isn't needed. Also, if the
info on compressed files looks to be messed up, use the Lha file included
and it will be straighten out. I will be updating it for future Lha
releases to make sure they stay together.
 At this point if all things so far are in order and exist, you should be
ready to run the door.
  Extras
  ~~~~~~
 The 'VDCompress.Prefs' file is used to configure the program. It is not
needed, but should be used. If not need, the program will default to using:

 No Text Add
 Filetypes Restricted Are 'DMS,LHA,LZH,SFX,DEX'
 No Conferences Are Restricted From Use

 To configure the program, the first line is the text add you will be
using. This text file must be located in the 'S:' directory. The next five
lines will be the types of files not to be allowed to be compressed.
You can leave some out, or have left then five types, but make sure you
leave the original five spaces that were there. The next nine lines will
be the conferences that the program can't be used in. This is incase you
don't want the compressed files being left everywhere, you can restrict the
use of the program to only a few confs. Again you can use less then nine
confs but make sure to leave the original nine spaces. You can use the
preference file included in the archive as a reference point incase your
abit confused.

 The 'VDCompress.Help' file isn't needed as well, but should be used so that
the user will know how to run the program and not stand there confused. If
you don't use the help file, when the user tries to use the help file it
will simpley tell him it can't find it.

 The program will also add a line stating that the file archive has been
packed with the VDCompress door to your BBS add if you use one, but it
won't affect your original add.

  Operation
  ~~~~~~~~~
 For instructions on how to work this door, simpley run the door, and at
the first prompt enter an 'H' for the help file. The help file will tell
you what the door does and how to work it.
  Callerslog
  ~~~~~~~~~~
 As with all my doors, the callerslog is used in this door. It's similar
to the callerslog used in my VDEdit program.

 The log will inform you of the following items. The user that ran the door,
the name of the archive created (consists of VD+Node Number+_+First and Last
Two letters of the conference name - so that 2 users on difference nodes
can use it, or two compressed files in difference confs can be used),
what the user added into the archive, the time started, ended and date. If
no files were added to the archive the it will say that. Also, if the user
aborts then it will also say that in the log and the file will be deleted.)
An example of a log created is:

  History
  ~~~~~~~
 v1.1 : -Change Maximum number of compressed files from 5 to 20
        -Added part to inform Sysop when the user tries to use a ':' or
         '/' as it wasn't realized the user could download from anywhere
         on the harddrive (Oops)
        -Added conference restrictions
 v1.2 : -Made the configeration part into a seperate file.
        -Fixed the ':' and '/' bug. Instead of informing the sysop and
         exiting it will simply not be able to find the files if they are
         not in the conferences paths files
        -Updated the help file
        -Completly redone the callerslog, it now is similar to that of
         VDEdit.
        -Changed name of program from File Compressor To VDCompress
 v1.3 : -Added routine to only allow user to enter a maximum of 12 letters
         for a filename
        -Added extra protection (in case) that keeps the user from using
         the ':' and '/' keys altogether
  Greets
  ~~~~~~
 A special greet goes out to Zen for this door. He's the one that had the
original idea to make the door, cause he had alot of mods on his board
that the users could then compress before downloading. Unfortunatly his
board was short lived, so he never got to use the final version of the door.
Nevertheless, the door was made and it's still useful.

 Well that's the end of another of my doors. I've been running this door
as a util on my board for quite along time, and the users seem to
like it. Especially Nzo, when he was at 2400 and he would compress all those
text files and executables. Although most users are too lazy to compress
files before downloading them, some take the time. As always I update my
utils frequently so stay tuned for more and better updates of this program.
Till then....

 And a few greets to...

 Skol/THG - Call again soon. Always nice to chat with ya.
 Nzo/Dual Crew - Ah.. I talk to you too much already. :)
 Nameless - Thanks for the greet in your NodeAct door.
 Nosferatu - Will we see a NosNuke to work with VDColorDir ever???
 Pot-Noodle/Anthrox - Great Last caller util. Also, Nice quote file. Hope
                      you don' t mind me using some quotes for VDPage.

 Gilby/Minstry - You should call me more!

                 Send greets if you want them back!

 And those that I know but forgot, and also those users that still value
friendship over all else, and of course to all you other ami-express door
writers out there. Drop me a line on my board sometime, I'd be glad to help
test your utils or give you the latest updates on mine.

 Remember to call my board. I need some console users badly.. and amiga
users are always more then welcome!

 And I'm still groupless.. Any group willing to take me on please get ahold
of me. I like releasing my doors under a group name. They get spread faster!

                                   Later dudes.. Till then!

                                                            TW,SA
