This Program is in the Public Domain and can be archived for electronic distribution (BBSs etc.) as long as all the following files are added Saga_000 Saga_020 Saga_030 Saga.Doc This software is provided `AS IS` without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied. The author is not responsible for any damage caused by it. (Not that it will) Right now I have got that out of the way, we can start with the docs! Show AGA uses the Reqtools.library which is copyright Nico Francois Introduction: Show AGA (Saga) is a program for viewing IFF/ILBM Pictures on the Commodore Amiga series of Machines. There are verious versions included, 000 version for amiga with the 68000 & 68010 processor such as the amiga 500,600,1500,2000. The 020 version is for machines with the 68020 processor such as the Amiga 1200 The 030 version is for machines with the 68030 processor such as the most wonderful Amiga 4000/030 There is no 040 verison because there are not meny A4000/040`s around so the demand would be very small, also I cant be bothered. The difference between the 3 versions is minimal, the 020 and 030 versions are almost the same apart from an optomised viewing routine and the difference between the 000 and 020 versions is the use of 2 68020 commands! The 68020 version also views AGA Pictures better! There is no point in having the 000 version do AGA Graphics as there are no machines that use the AGA chipset with anything under a 68020 processor. Right now I have confused you, on to the usage. Saga can be invoked from the CLI by typing Saga_020 or from workbench by double clicking on its icon! At the moment saga has no command line or tool-types but I will add them to a future version, At the moment Saga is of no real use if you wish to create a slideshow by just typing SAGA DF0:#? as SAGA does not use WILDCARDS. So you would have to create a script files as follows Saga_020 SYS:Pictures/Pic1 Saga_020 SYS:Pictures/Pic2 Etc.. Sorry about this, but I have not had time to add this feature yet. Saga was coded just as a tool for my Hard drive but a couple of my mates told me I should continue to support it, so I am. This is the second public release (V1.1). There are som every good picture viewers around, some of my best are- Viewtek -PPShow 3.0a -Multiview! When I first coded this program the Amiga 1200 had just come out and it was the only program I knew of that would show AGA pictures but since then ViewTek by Thomas Krehbiel has become very good and I now use it in preference to Saga as it uses Commodores Datatypes and it has a very good routine for displaying AGA Pictures, the only problem with ViewTek is that it is very big(85k crunched) and is not much use in a slideshow (ok, so saga is no good in a slideshow). So Saga is smaller than ViewTek and to my mind (but I am Biased) has a better AGA View routine, Saga is Coded in 100% Assembler so it is faster than most viewers. So Saga is Small,Has a good AGA Display routine and is fast! what more could you want! Saga`s AGA Display Routine... The AGA Display routine in Saga had been greatly improved over the last few weeks, it is now (as far as I know) the fastest at viewing 256 colour and HAM8 Pics! For example - A Picture was given away with the best ever paint package Brilliance! called AmigaLagoon.pic. We did a test to see which one of two of the top AGA Viewers and SAGA got along, The results Top viewer 1 Top viewer 2 Saga Time to view: 5:32secs Would not Display 12 secs The Top viewer 1 gave the message - Approxiamating display mode and after 5 mins 32 seconds finished displaying the picture, the colours were trashed, you could not make out the picture at all! The Top viewer 2 Just gave the error - Display mode not available on this machine! Saga just loaded the picture (492k) in 12 seconds (from my Hard drive) and showed it as it is ment to be! NOTE - These tests were done on an Amiga 4000/030 with 6 meg of Memory Saga might me fractionaly slower on An Amiga 1200/600/500 or whatever. The mentioned picture has been included in this Archive so you can do your own tests! Things I will add in the future.. 1. Command line - commands such as wild cards - Wait - Delay - nolace - Quiet - Forever - Loop - LowMem - and a few more 2. Tool types - same as above but for icons 3. View popular PC formats such as GIF,JPEG and TIF 4. Use the WB2.1+ locale.library for multi languages 5. Use the WB2.1+ Datatypes to view text, pcx etc.. 6. My own file requesters I cant think of any more off the top of my head, if you have any ideas please write to me.
