3]HOW TO INSTALL AMIGA BASIC ON THIS DISK
---------------------------------------

     You must install Amiga Basic on this disk for Basic programs to work.
     We have made this easy and quick to do. You need only do it once with
a given issue of JUMPDISK.
     We offer two separate methods to install Basic. If one doesn't work,
try another.
     If you already double-clicked the IMPORTANT icon and got bad results,
then you tried to copy Amiga Basic from a disk that was not named either
Extras or Copy of Extras, or which did not contain Amiga Basic.

3]METHOD ONE -- THE IMPORTANT ICON
1. Have the EXTRAS disk at hand. Make sure it is named EXTRAS or
COPY OF EXTRAS, not anything else. If need be, use the RENAME feature
available from the WORKBENCH pulldown menu at top left of WORKBENCH screen
to rename it simply as EXTRAS. If you're sure it is named EXTRAS or
COPY OF EXTRAS, skip ahead to step 2.

To rename as EXTRAS:
-- Single-click on the disk icon of the disk holding Amiga Basic.
-- Take the mouse to left of top bar on screen.
-- Depress right mouse button to highlight the Workbench pulldown menu.
-- Drag mouse pointer down menu until word "Rename" is highlighted and
   release right mouse button.
-- A window opens with the current name of the disk in it. Change that
   name to EXTRAS. Make sure you have NOT left a trailing blank in
   front of the word EXTRAS. How to make sure? Erase all characters
   in window and type EXTRAS.
-- Press Return key.
     
2. Make sure your JUMPDISK write-protect tab is open. Here, "open" means it
   is pushed down to the position closest to the metal slider on the bottom
   of the disk and you can't see through the opening that otherwise appears.

3. Put JUMPDISK in the internal drive (DF0:) and double-click its icon.

4. In the J: window that appears you will see an icon labeled IMPORTANT.
   Double-click the IMPORTANT icon.

5. Screen requesters will appear, telling you which disks to insert when.
   The three disks are WORKBENCH, EXTRAS and J -- disk name for JUMPDISK.
   Keep swapping as long as new requesters appear.

On two-drive systems, leave J in DF0: and use DF1: for the called-for swaps
of WORKBENCH and EXTRAS.

At the end of the job, the screen will announce Basic has been installed and
ask you to press the CTRL and C keys at the same time to exit.

The next time you open the J window, the IMPORTANT icon will be replaced
with an OK icon which announces that Basic has been installed.

This method can fail -- if you don't use a disk literally named either
EXTRAS or COPY OF EXTRAS (upper or lower case or combination all work), or
if it is interrupted before completion. If Basic programs still don't work:

3]METHOD TWO -- CLICK AND DRAG
     With this method, you need JUMPDISK and any disk on which the
AmigaBASIC icon is evident. We presume you have an EXTRAS, COPY OF EXTRAS,
or any disk containing Amiga Basic and its icon. Make sure write-protect
tab of J is open.

1.  On a two-drive system, put EXTRAS in one drive and J in the other.
    On a one-drive system, insert EXTRAS first, J next, and swap as
    prompted.

2.  Double-click the EXTRAS icon to open its window.

3.  Insert J (JUMPDISK) and double-click its icon to open its window.

4.  Click and hold left mouse button on the AmigaBASIC icon. Roll the mouse
    to drag the icon into the J window. Take it to the empty place you will
    see and release the left mouse button.

The copying of Amiga Basic from EXTRAS to J is automatic, though on
one-drive systems you will be asked to swap EXTRAS and J several times.
