The default keyboard is in english. If you prefer another one, just go to the System directory and double-click on the ChangeKeyboard icon. Why such a disk ? I noticed on forums that many people had an amiga without system and/or no way to dump or create amiga disks. The only way was to send them, via snail mail, amiga disks for they can use their machine. The goal of this disk is to limit postal charges. With it, amiga users can create system disks from downloaded ADF files or dump their amiga disks. What's inside ? Zshell : a shell better than the one that comes with the Workbench. Lha : The archiving program for Amiga. Textra : A freeware text editor. AmigaExplorer : a network utility with which you can access to your Amiga from your Windows Explorer. dms : a utility to make images of Amiga floppies and to create Amiga floppies from images. transwarp1.2.1 : a prog that reads or writes the sectors of an Amiga disk and that can send them through a serial connection. fat95 : a MS-DOS disk driver that can read Windows long filenames. When the drive is mounted, its name is MS0: How to use the programs included in this disk ? Get these progs and read their docs. How can I dump/load disks ? Icons are made for an easier use. All of them are in the "Utilities" drawer. * AExplorerBaudBandit This icon is the official icon of AmigaExplorer. It uses BaudBandit.device to access to the serial port of the Amiga. Transfers go at the speed of 38400 bauds. Set up you Windows COM options to the same speed. Note : you can use this program only if you have Cloanto AmigaExplorer installed on your PC. * ReceiveFromPC_Serial This icon calls the prog "trans28", which is a part of TransWarp, and allows you to create an Amiga disk via a serial cable. Send the ADF image from your PC COM port, with, for example, "ADF Sender Terminal", and receive it on you Amiga floppy. To use this prog, set up the PC COM port to 28800 bauds. All operations are done with the first floppy drive. * SendToPC_Serial This icon calls the prog "transwarp", and allows you to dump an Amiga disk to your PC via a serial cable. As said before, you can use "ADF Sender Terminal",but to receive the image on your PC. To use this prog, set up the PC COM port to 115200 bauds. All operations are done with the first floppy drive. * MountMS0 This icon is used to mount the drive MS0:, which is physically the first floppy drive. Just double-click on the icon to do the mounting. Just after mount, eject your floppy and re-insert it to activate the mounting (see below Troubleshooting). * PC_Format Allows you to format a 720Kb PC floppy in the Amiga. I advise you format your PC disks on the Amiga, and not on the PC. To use this icon, the device MS0: must be mounted, with, for example, the MountMS0 icon. All operations are done with the first floppy drive. * DumpADF_Disk For the ones who haven't a serial cable to use the network version of the icons. This icon calls TransWarp in disk mode and transfers an Amiga floppy on a 720Kb PC floppy for you can copy the image on your PC. The Amiga disk is dumped in two halves, named "TMPDSK1" and "TMPDSK2". Works only if you have 1 Mb of RAM or more; otherwise, you'll have to dump by hand, in a CLI. To use this icon, the device MS0: must be mounted, with, for example, the MountMS0 icon. All operations are done with the first floppy drive. * LoadADF_Disk The same as before, but loads two halves of an ADF you have on your PC to an Amiga disk. Each half of ADF must be named "TMPDSK" on the PC floppy. Works only if you have 1 Mb of RAM or more; otherwise, you'll have to load by hand, in a CLI. To use this icon, the device MS0: must be mounted, with, for example, the MountMS0 icon. All operations are done with the first floppy drive. Troubleshootings If you break the execution of transwarp in network mode, the BaudBandit.device will not be closed and will block the use of the serial port. The only solution I found is to reboot. About AmigaExplorer : sometimes, when the icon is just doucle-clicked, your PC won't see the amiga. Just be patient : wait 5 to 10 seconds. If waiting isn't enough, try to eject the floppy in the amiga and re-insert it. Then, your PC should see the amiga. About MountMS0 : if the mount isn't activated automaticaly, eject your floppy to activate a system detection of the disks, and re-insert it. You can insert the PC floppy instead of re-inserting the system floppy.
