$149.95 ! This higher price is due, I believe to the fact that Inovatronics has
taken over all responsibility, marketing, etc. of the product and John Potter no
longer has anything to do with it. 


Amos Professional

Retail price is normally $224.
It seems the original Amos is a dead product, and you must go the way of Easy Amos
or Amos Pro to be properly supported. The current compiler is useless on both of
these, and so are all current extensions. Updates for the compiler and the 3D
extension will be available soon for the usual upgrade fee. 




Postscript Driver fro Pagestream V. 2.1.11

It used to appear at the bottom of an A4 page. Now fixed to appear
in the centre. New Prolog and Postscript driver is included. This is
available from Soft-Logik.



AMIGAVISION PROFESSIONAL

The whole package has been improved.  There are more transitions, and there
are now two groups of transitions: bitmap and screen.  Screen transitions are
independent of screen and palette so you don't have to worry about things
changing color or resizing when performing transitions.  There are now 4
transition speed selections instead of 3.

Even though the presentation of AVPro was on a 3000, there is AGA support.

A new feature is streaming, a process where you can play sound and animations
directly from the disk using a user defined memory buffer.  You can now slow
down animations if they go too fast by inserting a number of jiffies.

There are many features that support an AmigaVision Flow running on a CDTV.
CDXL is supported, although you can't create them with AVPro and you can only
play them back on a CDTV.  If you want to create them, CDTV Developers can
buy a device called CTRACK. This is a special SCSI drive controller emulates
the CDTV CD-ROM drive.  However this device costs more than $5000.  AVPro can
now read back the CDTV preferences.  A memory limitation preference allows you
to run your flow in a simulated CDTV environment, so that you can test your
flow to see if it has enough memory to run on a CDTV without running it on one.

You can now choose small icons when viewing your AmigaVision flows. This allows
you to see more of your flow at once.  Printing of flows has been expanded, 
allowing more that just graphic dumps.  It presents the flow in an all text
form at which you can print to a printer or file.  A memory reporter will tell
you how much memory you are using when your flow is running.  A freely
distributable runtime version is now available, and it is only about 260k in
size.  This runtime version can runs flows from all versions of AmigaVision.

An upgrade policy from older versions of AmigaVision is not final, but it looks
like it will come in about $90 US.

ProDraw 3 on the A4000

   This has proved to be less than stable, but there is an upgrade coming out
  soon to fix the problem.


CanDo

   Any version of CanDo and their decks need at least Workbench 1.3 to run -
  Workbench 1.2 will fall over, so beware.


Workbench 2 Bug!

   There's a bug in Workbench 2! It's not very exciting, but here's an
  example of how to reproduce it anyway.

    1. Open a shell window.

    2. Make sure there's no file called ".info" in the ram disk
       by typing:

            1> delete ram:.info

    3. Copy an icon file to the ram disk by typing:

            1> copy sys:utilities/clock.info ram:

       Don't copy the Clock program itself to the ram disk.

    4. Double-click on the Ram Disk icon in Workbench. You should
       see the clock icon.

    5. Select the icon and choose "Rename..." in the Icon menu.

    6. Erase the old name in the requestor that appears and press
       the return key.

   Voila, an icon with no name! The icon file "clock.info" has been renamed
  to ".info" and Workbench thinks it corresponds to a file called "". You
  can rename the icon to give it a valid name, but if you update the window
  (with the "Update" command in the Window menu) the icon disappears.

   The only criteria for this "trick" to work is that the icon has to be
  orphaned (meaning that there's no corresponding file called Clock) and
  there must not already be a file called ".info" in the same directory.

   The bug exists in Workbench 1.3 too, but it's harder to come across
  because WB1.3 always creates a file called ".info" in each drawer, so the
  rename operation fails.
