------------------------------------------------------------------------- ShortCut! v1.1 by Opher D. Kahane ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ED. NOTE: Opher's second contribution to MD6 is a neat utility which will help anyone use the CLI more speedily and efficiently. It's very easy to use, so try it, by following the instructions here, and click on the "GOTOCLI" icon to try it out now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ShortCut! is a utility that makes using the CLI easier : instead of having to type long command sequences over and over again, you can now type them in only once and replace them with one key stroke. One key stroke also replaces common CLI commands such as Dir, List, Newcli, etc. ShortCut! adds menus to the CLI window, so all commands are accessible via mouse or command keys. You can build macro sets, then save or load them. To install ShortCut!, just add "run ShortCut! []" to your startup sequence. If you specify a filename, ShortCut! will load the macro set file so it will be ready to run. This way you can have your most common command sequences at your service as soon as AmigaDos loads. The commands in the Extras menu must be in the 'c' directory of the disk you booted with or in the current directory (With the exception of: Cd, Delete & Makedir). If you want to run other commands using ShortCut!, you can rename them to one of the names in the Extras menu, or make a macro for them. When editing macros, you don't have to click in the string gadgets to activate them - the first gadget is automatically selected (unless you're using KS1.1) and pressing return moves you on to the next line, so the need for mouse control is minimal. If you made a mistake and you want to undo it, click on the CANCEL gadget, and any changes you made will be erased. The current directory of ShortCut! is the one it finds when it loads. To change it, choose the 'CD' option from the Extras menu. Using the Cd command from the CLI has no affect on ShortCut!, and vice versa. ShortCut! adds its menus to the current window, and since it's not picky about the window it adds its menus to - It may add them to a non-CLI window, such as Ed's window. This may be useful in some cases and destructive in other, so be careful. Please note: ShortCut! works better with KickStart 1.2! ShortCut! is released as a ShareWare product. Copy it to your friends, upload it to your favorite BBS, but DON'T sell it. This file must accompany it.
