PREFACE Welcome to Enchanted Realms, the Premier Adventure Game Journal for the Commodore Amiga. And, welcome to our special Anniversary Issue! By now you have seen the Journal and recovered from the initial joy and awe you experienced. Neat, huh? We think so. Well, so much for the introduction. On with the disk! PROGRAMS ON DISK The purpose for having a journal that includes a disk is so that we can provide something extra that publications restricted to paper alone can't provide. In our case, it's adventure games, commercial demos, screenshots and gaming aids. This Anniversary Issue of Enchanted Realms features the following programs and helps provided for your adventure pleasure. So, enjoy! README1ST! This document, of course! Due to the nature of this issue and its contents, Realms, our regular Dungeon Interface, has been skinned to the bones. Only the Text Reader is included on disk so that you have access to this file. Following is a description of the programs on disk and an explanation of their use. ACCOLADE DEMOS Most of this issue's disk is devoted to demos of Accolade's three newest Amiga adventures: Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (reviewed in a previous issue), Les Manley in: Search for The King (reviewed in this issue) and Altered Destiny which is just about ready for release. The demos of Les Manley and Altered Destiny are combined and can be run by double-clicking on the "Accolade Demo" program icon. Then, just sit back and enjoy. The "Elvira Demo" can be run in one of two ways. The easiest is to simply boot with this disk when your Amiga asks for Workbench. Or, if you prefer, you can run it from the CLI or Shell. At the prompt, type "cd df0:" (or "cd df1:" depending on which drive this disk is in) without the quotation marks and hit . Then, type "runit" and press . A word of warning is in order on the "Elvira Demo." It requires 1MB of RAM to operate. So, those of you with 512K Amigas will not be able to view it. It also does not support Workbench 2.0. And...one more thing. If it is run on an Amiga 3000, you need to rename the Issue7 disk "Disk0". Strange indeed, but hey, it works. Both demos will continue running until you reset your Amiga. FIXSIX As many of you know by now, there was a problem with the textfile reader used on Issue 6 for several compressed textfiles. Only the first run of Issue 6 disks were affected. If you had problems with the text reader on the last issue, this program will perform the necessary corrective surgery to enable you to access those files. Please read the instructions in the FixSix directory before trying to run the program. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Thanks!
