HUGEPRINT

Not distributed on a workbench disk, so install it your self. Set
the printer preferneces to 570 lines per page, custom paper size,
a pitch of 10 pica, left and right margins as far to the ends as
possible, 6 lines per inch and draft quality unless your
combination of printer and driver offer higher density graphics
with the last two settings at other values. To start from
Workbench double click the HUGEprint icon and the title screen
for HUGEprint will open. If you need to get from HUGEprint to the
workbench screen use the left Amiga and M or N keys
simultaneously to switch from screen to screen.

To select an image for HUGEprint pick Load IFF picture or brush.
The image can be a full screen or larger image in 320 x 200, 640
x 200, 320 x 400, 640 x 400 resolutions, or a brush in any one of
these resolutions. Also, full screen HAM images are compatible.

Next select the number of strips wide that you want your final
print to be from the Number of strips sub-menu.
With the printer margins in Preferences set to 80 columns wide,
the strips will produce final prints in increments of 8 inches
per strip. The width of the strips can be adjusted by changing
the margins in Preferneces, thus changing the overall size of the
final print.

By default, Strip(s) to print is set to ALL. 1 through 16 may be
chosen to print only one strip at a time, in case a strip becomes
damaged, or the printer runs out of paper, etc.

Set aspect ratio allows you to select Square pixels so that a
mathematically correct circle appears as a circle in the print,
for example. Square pixels is the default setting for Set aspect
ratio. Video pixels allows the printer driver software to
determine the aspect ratio of the final print. Ofte, printer
drivers take into account that the screen pixels are distorted to
be video-compatible. Video pixels will generate a taller image
with these printer-printer driver combinations.

To start printing, select Print! from the Project menu releasing
the selection button in the OK! box. (The OK! box is provided to
prevent an accidental start of the printing process.)
During printing, the Amiga key N or Amiga key M can be used to
bring the Workbench screen to the front allowing you to use the
Amiga for another task at the same time HUGEprint is printing.

Sometimes the file requester will notappear. This usually happens
when a HAM picture is being displayed. In these instances, you
may quit the program and restart or use HUGEprint HELP unjam to
load a screen from which the requester may be called.

When you are finished with HUGEprint, select Quit HUGEprint from
the project menu, releasing the menu button in the GOOD BYE! box.

When HUGEprint encounters an error condition such as trying to
load a non IFF file or not being able to open the printer
device, an error message will appear in a window called
"HUGEprint says goodby" on the Workbench. When you press the
return key the program will exit. When the program displays a
requester that you are prompted to click with the right mouse
button, the program is still running but often its screen is
hidden behind the Workbench. Use the infront/behind gadgets at
the upper right corner of the Workbench to return to the
HUGEprint screen.

A note about HAM:

In order to print a HAM picture it must first be merged with one
of the pictures in the merge file. This can be done with Digi-
Paint using its merge screens function. The result should be a
HAM picture with white lines dividing the sections to be printed.
The white lines can be covered over but only with one of the 16
colors from the far left palette in Digi-paint. For a picture to
be printed in three strips, use the picture in the merge file
named 3_columns. For 10 strips, use the picture 10_columns, etc.

A powerful feature of HUGEprint is the abiloity to start from the
CLI. To start from the CLI, use this form:
HUGEprint (filename) (number of strips wide) (which strip)

For instance, to load the file "pie" and print it 6 strips wide,
you would type this in the CLI:
HUGEprint pie 6

The program HUGEprint must be in the current directory to run
from the CLI, but the file need not be. For instance, to load a
file in the directory "refrigerator" named "pie" and print it in
8 strips, you would type this:
HUGEprint refrigerator/pie 8

If the file were on another disk anmed "Kitchen" and you only
wanted the fifthe of 8 strips because you spilled coffee on it,
then you would type this:
HUGEprint Kitchen:refrigerator/pie 8 5

Don't forget the spaces.

To start HUGEprint with the file ice_cream displayed but not
printed, type:
HUGEprint ice_cream

To just start HUGEprint with it's title screen displayed, type:
HUGEprint

In the cases where HUGEprint prints something, it will exit after
print is completed. This allows HUGEprint to be used in a batch
file for unattended printing of multiple IFF files.

When HUGEprint quits and displays a message that it can't print
and to consult your manual, it is probably because you are trying
to print an IFF file that is larger than the screen one strip
wide. HUGEprint cannot do this. All larger than screen pictures
must be printed at least two strips wide. (But of course that's
why you bought (?) HUGEprint in the first place, isn't it?)
