However, I noticed that SOMETIMES (I'm not sure what the common denominator is) it seems to get confused about column align- ment. That is, the reverse video column highlighter will sometimes no longer be aligned with the column headings shown at the top of the screen. I've found that the problem can be cured by storing to disk and retrieving the file. What am I doing wrong that is causing the problem? Also, how do I enter set-up strings in the print mode? I tried '\xxx' but all that prints out are the decimal codes, not the special characters (even when preceeded by '\027'). Of course, this may be caused by the Amiga printer driver filtering out special chars. I've noticed before that you can't write special chars to device PRN:, but only to device PAR: (or wherever your printer is hooked up). MM Version 3.3 is specific for the T2K, but it works exactly the same as the PC-DOS version of MM that I've used on the IBM PC. Its just much faster on the T2K. WP 4.1 is the IBM version and it runs equally well on both PC-DOS and MS-DOS machines. If this is the case then the bbs sees the carrier signal and we can eliminate the cable. We have found that some modems cannot accept the AT string at the speed the BBS sends it. If this is the case with your modem you can slow down the AT string by putting a "`" character in front of the AT or put a "~" character after the AT. The former slows down the sending of the complete string and the latter pauses for 1 second to allow the modem to figure the baud rate out. When installing the 'New, Fixed' version 3.1.01 of Tandy's MS-DOS for the 3000 the FAT on my 20 MB was immediately scrambled. Use MS-DOS 3.1 and Doubledos if you want to run 2 BBS's or one in the background but stay away from their operating system. In addition the latest 3000 are equipped with a Seagate ST-225 instead of the former higher speed Mitsubishi drive. These drives have about a 60 MS track to track time and are suitable for a 1000 or XT type computer. Tandy seems to be determined to screw up all the time. I got this version when I ordered DOSPLUS for R/S mod4 After really getting into it, I think it's a great terminal program. But I can't get the transmission delay between characters to work. No matter the setting, it always comes out the same as zero delay. There is one BBS which does not use XON XOFF nor buffering, and I want to upload and have to have the delay as they process every character individually. I can't make the delay work. Is there a later mod to the program to change this? I work with CompuUserve, company LAN and PDP11-70, MCIMAIL, Bank of America via TYMNET, etc. and don't have any problems in general. If your disk volume name is "Docs" you can load the file from your word processor with "Docs:myfile". Mine gets hot and this caused some preocupation. However, I was told by Brian Charpel of MF that it was quite normal for it to become hot and that it shall be alot better when the HD is place inside the expansion box with its power supply. My power supply does not produce any noise and I have place it right under the desk where does not disturb at all. I am very happy with it and I would no go back to just floppys again. there was something, a small bug somewhere in the system that will prevent the HD to warm-boot as fast as usual. but this only happened once in a while. By the way, mine is just a 20 meg. unit, enough for me (for now). I also paid $13.40 for return shipping for they were unwilling to pay for red label UPS).....Now, unless real bad luck and coincidences REALLY have hit me all at once, I SUGGEST THAT AMIGA USERS WAIT UNTIL THE DUST SETTLES ON HARD DRIVES BEFORE they get one (i hear bad things about Techmar also)...Robotronics out of Dallas were the people that DISCOVERED that the Amiga has a hard drive (IBM) controller ON BOARD! They have 100 beta units out that the people have to open the case to connect it to the HD controller. But, that probabu transfer all your IBM source files over to the Amiga at 150,000 baud, through the par port via a special cable (pinouts doccumented). You can then use a Aztec compiler (native!) and get good compact fast code.. From what I am hearing Lattice is way behind in every benchmark-test. The lattice C apearently hasn,t been refined enuff to take advantage of the great 68000 powerhouse. I don't think Lattice evem supports true reg variables. and on and on, inefficiant use of the instruction set. I think the first pass psudo code is identicle to that of the MS-dos version.... This restricts the second pass from using the full potential of the 68000. besides that the compile time is much faster. coulden't you guys at least consider a version using aztec and let the buyer make the deccision. I bet the code could remain almost unchanged using the +L option for 32 bit integers.. I havop my bbs, to say call you, or other work, of any kind, not necessarily serial port access, the bbs seems to lock up somehow. A call would come in, and it took almost 30 seconds to repond to modem CONNECT signal, and then wouldn't respond to incoming characters. Just to see what would happen, I pressed return myself for initial login, and it displayed BBS-PC 4.04 -1:7E1, which I assume means a negative baud rate??. Anyway, problem is easily solved by exiting to CLI, shutting down modem, and restarting, but I have been calling in from another line just to be sure...this might be another serial driver bug from Commodore-Amiga, but I'm not sure... (I'll send that list, it has a full length description of problem).
