A noun is a word that names 1) a person, 2) a place,
3) a thing, 4) or an idea.

The name of anything is a noun.  The word CAT is a noun.
If a certain cat has a name, that name is a noun.

The name of whatever it is we are talking about is a

The names of things we cannot see, hear, taste, or touch
are also nouns.

The word "they" refers to "friends."  THEY is a pronoun.
Words like WE, HIM, IT, OURS, YOURS, and MINE are pronouns.
