Thank you for purchasing ToasterVision. This file contains miscellaneous notes and changes to programs after the manual went to press, as well as manual corrections and/or changes. Before you install ToasterVision, make sure you backup your original diskettes and store them in a safe place. ALWAYS work with backups! Because of the arrangement of various support files, ToasterVision programs should not be run from disk. Use the Install program supplied......it will prompt you for any information needed and will make installation effortless. You will need about 2 megabytes of free hard drive space if all modules and effects are installed. Reboot after installation. MANUAL CORRECTIONS: Page 7, Creating a New Wipe Effect Tutorial, states "Select Default under the Output Type options, and Auto under Crouton." The DEFAULT output option no longer exists (it is now automatic). Simply ignore this instruction. FRAMESTORE CATALOG: The Framestore Catalog is the only module that varies from its documented form. Changes are significant....... The left and right scroll buttons can now feature continuous scroll.... just coninue to hold down the left mouse button. The Pause button is not functional. (The animation can be stopped by selecting ANIMATE.) The left and right arrow keys now scroll through the database. Holding the key down will result in continuous scroll. The Up and Down arrow keys will move 4 entries at a time (Up...4 back, Down...4 forward). Animations will be played from the CURRENT frame. To play the entire anim, make sure you move to the beginning of the database. The frame information field is now more explicit than shown in the manual representation (pages 37 and 38). TOASTMASTER 2 The first time ToastMaster2 is run, there is a long (45-60 second) delay. You will be greeted with a familiar screen as ToastMaster2 loads a project file. (This is the same process the Toaster goes through when booting). ToastMaster2 then makes copies of the croutons, and saves them to the current directory for future use. This is a tremendous advantage, since subsequent use of ToastMaster2 will not require initial project loading, saving a great deal of time. ABOUT DISK 2: Make sure you install DISK 1 before attempting to install the Toaster effects on DISK 2. The install utility requires a support file installed by DISK 1. The DISK 2 install utility will install ALL the effects on the DISK......if you only want to install certain wipes, simply double-click their respective icons. Disk 2 contains a Project directory containing a project file (555.PJ.NewFX). This is a project file with all the new effects on the disk - simply insert the disk in any drive, go to Toaster preferences in the Switcher program (F10) and select that device. (The effects must first be installed). MISCELLANEOUS: Note that rescaling and clipping in WipeMaster2 can be time consuming, depending on the number of frames in your animation and your processor speed. However, in the context of what is taking place, these routines are INCREDIBLY FAST!! For example, if you wanted to convert a 640 X 400 animation to 384 X 241 by conventional means, this would mean saving each individual frame of an animation, loading each frame into an image-processing program such as ImageFX, Image Master, or ADPro, and scaling each frame. Then, after saving each frame individually, an anim builder utility would be required to reassemble the frames as an anim. Even with an automated ARexx script, this process could take HOURS, whereas WipeMaster2 can do it in seconds!! To our knowledge, this is the ONLY program ever released for the Amiga with this type of anim processing capability. Although it is possible to preview Framestores as a grey-scale image through both ToastMaster2 and the Framestore Catalog, we realize that there are still a few old Toaster users out there from the old school (CLI users.) For those few few we have included a small CLI-only version of the Framestore viewer called FView, located in the C: directory. The syntax is FView [framestore]. (Be sure to include the full path).
