XCOPY professional The following changes have been made in the latest version: - runs with turbocards and A3000 - installs three different boot-blocks - KILLSYS is now capable of reading a COMPLETE disk into a 1MB-Amiga You have to start XCOPYpro from Workbench to do this! - checks for inserted disks when leaving the programm - new mouse pointer routines - implemented the boot loader - changed the grafix and hired two more programmers for the project - a couple of bugs repaired, which you may never have discovered anyway and maybe a couple of new bugs implemented, which you may discover and then please report to us. Manual for XCOPY Loading: When your computer asks for the workbench, insert the XCOPY disk. The program can be found in the icon XCOPY. If you doubleclick this icon, the program loads by itself. To close the CACHET-window just place the cursor right on it and press the left mouse button. (Important: FREEZE the cursor by pressing the right mousebutton and free it, by pressing the right mouse button again) Configuration: XCOPY adapts by itself to any given system configuration. It uses the connected disk-drives as well as possible memory expansions. Use: The program is mainly controlled with the mouse. All important functions can be selected and changed from the menue-bar. To select an option you move the pointer to it and then you click the left mouse-button. The start/endtrack has to be entered with the little triangles over each number. Sync and other options in this line work a similar way. Options: Doscopy - is a fast backup mode, which allows you to back up a disk as it is. This means, if it finds a read write-error, it does not correct it. The nibble-mode of Doscopy is not as strong as the nibble mode in Nibblecopy. Nibblecopy - one of the strongest nibble-modes ever in a software backup program. It may take a while, but it backs up quite a lot. It also backs up IBM, Atari ST, Acorn Archimedes and many Keyboard-disks. Doscopy+ - is a fast backup mode as Doscopy, but it repairs errors which are found on your source disk. Bamcopy+ - same as Doscopy+, but it formats and copies used tracks only, which makes it even faster. Diskinfo - shows you name and info about disk. Gives you a percentage of free space and shows which tracks are used. B: blank, 0 to A: free sectors. Directory - directory with filerequester. Checkdisk - is used to detect reading mistakes on a disk. For tracks not corresponding to AmigaDos-standard, a red number is shown instead of the green zero. The number fits to a given error. Format - formats a target disk in 36 seconds. Verify can be used. If you want to name the disk EMPTY, just press return Qformat - formats just track 0 and 40 on already formated disks. Speedcheck - enables you to check the speed of your drives. Data on disks used to test the speed will be destroyed, therefore use blank disks. Shows the capacity of one track. Optimize - reorganizes your data-disks, so the data can be loaded faster. This option requires more than 512 k memory to work properly. You must never use this option with your ORIGINAL - disks, because they could get damaged. Install - installs three different boot blocks. Default - all parameters are returned to the standard value. Start/Endtrack - allows to choose between 00 and 81 Side - you can also choose to back up only one side of the disk, for example, when an Atari ST disk is only formated on one side. Sync - allows you to change the syncs. Only to be used by experienced users. Disk/Ram - you can either backup from disk to disk(s) or you can backup into RAM and then out of the RAM to make as many backups as you need. When you choose ram-backup, you can use the source-drive also as a target drive, together with the other drives. Killsys - if you do not have at least 1MB of memory, then you may choose this option to free some additional memory. If you choose killsys, you have to reset the Amiga, to leave XCOPY. If you can do without killsys, please do. Start/Stop - starts/aborts the choosen option Repeat - if you use the ram-backup-option, this enables you to repeat the backing up process. Choose Source/Target/Verify - to select a source-drive, click on a "lightbulb" in the upper line, to select one or more target drives, select as many lightbulbs in the lower line as you want. The choosen bulbs turn yellow when selected proper. To backup with verification click on the choosen target-bulbs again. If a red V appears, the data is copied to this disk with verification. If a Verify-error comes up you may choose one of the following KEYBOARD-commands: R - retry, C - Cancel copying Timer - In the lower-right corner we installed a timer, so you can always see how long a process takes. Quit - If you want to leave XCOPY, take out all disks from connected disk drives and then click the pointer over the upper-left corner of the screen. The computer will return to workbench (except killsys). This manual Copyright (C) ASI 1991, All rights reserved.
