__ ___ __ ___) \ _____ ____ _) (_/ (___ ) / ,__(_) \_ _ ( John The Ripper 1.4 /_ '__ _____ `___\ _//_ __/___\ Amiga port 1.0 ¯¯¯¯ ¯ /___| Released 10th of August 1997 After falling in love with this great tool using it on Paithan's NetBSD we tried to dig up a version for amiga. No luck, so we compiled it ourselves. There are two versions included; john.020 - Use this one on your 020 or 030. john.040 - Our favourite. Yes, it is for 040/060. System requirements: Some RAM, one of the mentioned processors, v41 of ixemul library (or better) in libs:, a password file ;) If you want to use the "xtract" and "unshadow"-features, make a symbolic link to John with those names or make two copies of the John-executable with the names "xtract" and "unshadow". These was tested on my (allanon's) Cyberstorm MK2 (060). The results are listed as cracks per second: John The Ripper 1.4 by Solar Designer : ~2000 Killer Cracker 9.11 by Dr.Dissector : ~600 Brutal force 1.4 by MAX : ~2200 FastKrak by Nameless Productions : ~430 Mentat 0.5 by Sauron : Too much hassle get it work, but it's is pretty fast. Brutal force is a bit faster than John, but because of Brutal force's sometimes strange behaviour and lack of functions, I think you'll like John better anyway. Good luck. Bugs: John is setting john.pot not writeable. Before every session you're going to use John, set john.pot writeable with "protect john.pot +w". This bug will be fixed. Probably.
