1.  START:
When you start XLent (either from CLI or ICON) it runs its own process and
your Amiga keeps it full multitasking ability.

2. GENERAL INFORMATION:
The XLent window contains two file boxes, one board with options and one
board with device gadgets. Each device, which acts like a drive and has
a working handler is shown as a gadget. Options (like for example DELETE)
will interact with the files in the active file box. You activate a box by
placing the cursor over it and pressing the left mouse button. The border
of the activated box is then highlighted. If you select a file in the
activated box it changes its color, to show that you can now operate it.

3. LOADING OF DIRECTORYS:
Selecting a device gadget loads the Root directory of the selected device
in the activated file box. Another option is to enter the device you want
to choose as a string gadget. To enter a directory which is shown in the
file box, just double-click it. You leave it by selecting the PARENT gadget.

4. OPTIONS OF XLent:
      4.1     Copy
      4.2     Move
      4.3     Delete
      4.4     Parent
      4.5     Rename
      4.6     MakeDir
      4.7     All
      4.8     Clear
      4.9     Cancel

4.1 COPY
copies all selected opjects of the activated file box in the device,
which is shown in the second file box. If there is not enough space
in your target device, XLent asks you, meather you want to skip this
file or abort copying. If you use RAM as your target device, you have
to select NOCHECK in the OPTIONS-MENU because RAM is dynamic and
therefore the system alwaysthinks it is FULL. In the pull down window
OPTIONS you can select more Parameters for COPY (see 5. Menu Options)

4.2 MOVE
MOVE works exactly as COPY, but it deletes the Source file after it
has copied it.

4.3 DELETE
DELETE deletes all selected files in the activated box. Before this is
done, the program  checks if the selected file is PROTECTED. IF you want
to delete a protected file, you have to use UNPROTECT first (see 5. Menue
Options).

4.4 PARENT
loads the parent directory of the files in the activated file box

4.5 RENAME
Shows a requester in which you enter the new name of the file you want
to rename. If you want to cancel RENAME, just press RETURN without
making any changes.

4.6 MAKEDIR
Shows a requester in which you enter the name of the directory you want
to create. To cancel MAKEDIR just press RETURN without making an entry.

4.7 ALL
ALL selects all entries in the activated file box.

4.8 CLEAR
CLEAR deselects all entries in the activated file box.

4.9 CANCEL
CANCEL enables you to interrupt a running process (for example: COPY)


5. MENU OPTIONS (pull down windows)

5.1 MISC
5.1.1 SELECT
SELECT shows a requester in which you can enter a pattern. All entrys
in the activated file box, which fir the pattern will then be selected.
For example 'Prefix#?' will select all entries witch start their name
with 'Prefix'. You get the same result, when you enter the pattern as
'Prefix*'. Other valid pattern are:

      XLent.(asm|o|postfix)
      ab(c|d|ef*gh|(ijk|l?m))??*z
      #(a|b|c)

5.1.2 UNSELECT
does the same as SELECT, except it deselects the entrys.

After using either SELECT or DESELECT the top line of the window shows
you how many entries you have selected, how many new entries were
added and the memory which is needed for all selected files.

5.1.3 FIND
enables you to find entries, which are related with the the string you enter.
This mode is experimental in this stage and can only be used in the activated
directory. In a later version the algorythm will be different and it will be
able to search a complete disc.

5.1.4 INFO
gives you information about the disc like NAME, SPACE ON DISC and more


5.2 OPTIONS
5.2.1 OVERWRITE
If an object allready exists in the target directory OVERWRITE enables
you to replace it with the file you write without doublechecking.

5.2.2 SKIPPING
If an object allready exists in the target drive SKIPPING checks if
bouth objects have the same programming date, the same flags and the
same comment. If they have, the file will not be copied. This saves
time and reduces the number of disc operations. This option work hand
in hand with CLONE

5.2.3 CLONE
If CLONE is selected a file is copied with its date, flags and comment.

5.2.4 NOCHECK
Before copying a file XLent checks if there is enough space on the target
device. To copy into RAM you always have to set NOCHECK, because RAM is
dynamic.

5.2.5 UNPROTECT
UNPROTECT enables you to overcopy protected files without doublechecking.

5.2.6 PRINTDIR
prints your current directory


5.3 VIEWING FILES AND PICTURES
XLent shows pictures and files by simply doubleclicking on them. The
program uses a konfiguration file, which you can find in the s-dir. If
you want to make any changes in the konfig.file just use QED and follow
the instructions in the konfig.file


6. END
By clicking on the CLOSE gadget (little square with a dot in the middle)
you can quit XLent.
