After the war, the home was purchased by a wealthy industrialist movie producer who allowed several silver screen movies to be filmed on location. During the second world war, Chateau Loriea served as a hiding place for most of the priceless art that is currently found in the Louvres, incuding the famous Smiling Lady of Verona. Using a lost carving technique, these craftsman were able to cut and lay marble blocks in such a way as to make the natural patterns flow from one panel to another. The interior walls were plastered using a very fine alabaster paste that was manually crushed by the peasant women of sixteenth century France. The original interior is strongly influenced by the styles that were prevalent in ancient Greece, as ordered by the Count.
