========================= Pro Play Professional 2.5 ========================= Preface This program is freeware, this means that you can copy it freely as long as you don't ask any more money for it than a nominal fee for copying. If you want to distribute this program you should keep this document and the libraries: reqtools.library, medplayer.library and powerpacker.library with it. reqtools.library and powerpacker.library are copyrighted to Nico François and medplayer.library is copyrighted to Teijo Kinnunen. Both program and document must be distributed in their original unmodified form. The program cannot be used for commercial purposes without written permission from the author. Also I (The author) am NOT responsible for any damage caused by this program. If you have suggestions or remarks about this program, or if you find any bugs, please let me know. Write to the following address: Lasse Magnussen Tomasjordveien 223 9020 TROMSDALEN Norway Contens 1. An introduction 2. Usage 3. Features 1. An Introduction Pro Play Professional 2.5 was written because I wanted a module player with some really good functions, which I didn't find on any other module players. (See '3. Features' for more information on what this player really can do.) This player uses these libraries, so make sure these are present in your LIBS: directory: powerpacker.library medplayer.library req.library As I said, make sure these are present in your LIBS: directory!! When distributing this program, these files should be present: SYS: ProPlay ProPlay.info ProPlay.doc ProPlay.doc.info LIBS: Kick13/reqtools.library Kick20/reqtools.library powerpacker.library medplayer.library All these files should be on the same disk that you found 'Pro Play' on. 2. Usage - From the CLI. If you enter 'ProPlay' the program loads and detaches from the CLI, this means that there's no reason to 'run ProPlay'. After loading ProPlay will try to open all the libraries stated above, It also looks for a file 'DEVS:ProPlay.prefs' this file is used in conjunction with the preferences in this program. You are also able to enter 'ProPlay [name and path of module to play]' in the CLI, ProPlay will then try to load the requested file (and decrunch it) then play it. Note: ProPlay is not able to play some millions different module formats, but it plays (what I think is) the most common module formats. These are: MED Modules (0,'MMD0') ProTracker and NoiseTracker (31 instruments) (1080,'M.K.') StarTrekker V1.0-V1.2 (4 voices) (1080,'FLT4') SoundTracker (Old 16 instruments modules) Future Composer 1.3/1.4 (0,'FC13'|'FC14') NoisePacked (???) I don't know any good way to recognize a NoisePacked module, so when you try to load a NoisePacked module, don't fear the worst when ProPlay tells you that he doesn't recognize the module. (If anyone out there has got a 'NoisePacked module recognition routine' for me, could you please send it to me???) All these modules can be crunched with PowerPacker (© by Nico François) - From the WorkBench. Clicking on the ProPlay icon will load ProPlay. The main control of ProPlay is through it's window, here you've got some menus and you've got the closegadget. Now, let's take a closer look at there menus (and the closegadget): When you click the closegadget, ProPlay asks you if you want to quit, if you select YES ProPlay will free any memory it has allocated while you've been using it, and shuts down completely, this means you've got to reload it to use it again. Now let's take a closer look at the menus. Project Read - This function displays the req.library file requester and asks you to select a file to load. Write as - This function asks you to select file to overwrite or you may write a new filename to save the module as. You are not able to save MED modules! This because you _cannot_ relocate a MED module twice..!! Eject - This function deallocates memory used by the module and stops the playing. About - This function displays MY name.... :-) Quit - This function does the same as the closegadget. Miscellaneous Filter: Override - This toggles the filter override function on|off. Toggle - Toggles the filter on|off. Pause - Pauses the current playing module. When selecting this, the 'Pause' changes to 'Play', which continues the module. Restart - Restarts the current playing module. Sleep - Puts ProPlay to sleep, ProPlay can now be waked by pressing 'CTRL - LSHIFT - LALT' at the same time. (L=LEFT). Interrupt - Toggles between CIA and VBlank interrupt. This is useful if you try to use this player on a NTSC machine, this may also be irritating when trying to play some ProTracker modules where the composer has done something weird. Recover mod. - Tries to reallocate the latest read module, if all this works fine, you are able to play the module again... Awesome!! ;-) This function doesn't work about 95% of the times you try, but this is not my fault, exactly when I free the memory used by the module it's destroyed, but it works sometimes. =B-| I think this is caused by _LVOFreeMem in exec.library. Next mod. - Read the next module, if you selected more than one module. Selecting more than one modules, is possible by pressing shift while you're selecting module(s) Information Here some information about the module is displayed, such as the module name and module length. Here is also some menus telling you what interrupt is used and if the filter is on or off. Preferences Window Height - Here you can select what heigth you want on your window I added this feature because we've got the wonderful kickstart 2.0 where you can change fonts all around.... Goto sleep - Setting this to 'On' will make ProPlay 'goto' sleep when you try to load it. Press 'CTRL - LSHIFT - LALT' to wake it. Useful for dudes wanting to put ProPlay in their Startup-Sequences, it's also useful for dudes wanting to use ProPlay as a module player on their music disks. (Now a problem: How are you going to quit my nice little program? Press left mouse button?) Interrupt - Here you may select what interrupt you're going to use when you load ProPlay. Override - Here you may select if the override function is going to be enabled or disabled when you load ProPlay Filter - Setting this to off, will turn of the low-pass filter, every time you execute my program. WindowPos - Here you may see what position where the window is going to pop up when you load or wake ProPlay. This is updated every second time you look in 'my' menus. Set module path - Here you can tell ProPlay where to look for the modules when you load it. Save Preferences - Saves the preferences in DEVS: ... 3. Features Well, what can I say? Try it! And read this document, then you'll get some idea of what Pro Play Professional 2.5 can do..... HISTORY ============================================================================== VERSION 2.3 First release. Do you think this is strange? I've been so >< close to releasing this program a dozen times, but every time I've found some bugs, come up with some good ideas or something like that. I'm sure I've made at least 100 executable working copies of this program, since version 1.0 ============================================================================== VERSION 2.4f Version 2.3 contained so many bugs, that I thought that it was best I corrected them as soon as possible. I've also added some new features: Window Height in Preferences Menu Now it works properly with a ZKicked Kick 2.0 (Don't force a hard reset, caused by medplayer.library. ProPlay will (I think) force a hard reset (when you try to reset!!) if you try to play some MED modules. It works on mine!! :^) [ But not if I play MED modules.... :-( ] Typing "Version ProPlay" (or something similar) from CLI will show ProPlays version number. (That's if it's not crunched...) And A LOT of other bugs... ============================================================================== VERSION 2.5 All versions of ProPlay have been fragmenting the memory, this was caused by PowerPacker.library (© by Nico François) When I used _LVOppLoadData in the powerpacker.library, it often returned 8 bytes too little when loading a _crunched_ module. This didn't happen all the time, but sometimes, this made the memory beeing fragmented (3092 bytes largest??!) Fixed the bug by using _LVOppDecrunchBuffer... I'd like to see the bug fixed, or atleast some feedback if I'm wrong! (Hi Nico!) Added the Window Height feature in the Prefs menu.. ============================================================================== Pro Play Professional 2.5 written by Lasse 'Alien' Magnussen. (I'm a member of Addonic, we're "Blasting your mind!" :^) Special thanks to Lars 'Zap' Hamre for his runback routine and for making the wonderful 'ProTracker'... // \\ // Thanks to \X/ Amiga for beeing such a wonderful machine.
