IPE Design & the "Basically Educational" Series
===============================================
 The production group: IPE Design, are made up of three Amiga coders: Ian
Hocking; Paul Johns; & Edward Pooley.
 Basically Medicine is the second product in a range of educational programs
in the Basically Series. The details of the package and its contents are given
in the loading instructions on the first disk. "Basically Educational" titles
will use Gold Disks's excellent multimedia tool `HyperBook' to create an
interactive encyclopedia: often with examples in the form of pictures & sound.
 With each title will come a HyperHelp that introduces multimedia concepts;
plus full documentation for any programs on the disks. Most of the Basically
Series will come on more than one disk.

Hypertext
=========
A special feature of this software is the feature known as HyperText. Many of
the Basically Educational Programs such as Basically Amiga have this facility
in which many `quoted' "emphasised" or italicised words can be clicked-on
with the mouse -- which will cause more information to be given in the
form of a HyperText message-box. Try clicking on words that you find a 
little difficult - complex meanings in context or totally new terms. In
some cases, clicking on a word may reveal a new page, some text, or an image!

An important notice for Users with One Megabyte and an External Drive
=====================================================================
 -  Due to the size of some of the sections there may be a slight memory
    problem on your machines, because your external drive takes up 3Ok of
    system memory & you will not have the full one megabyte available,
    because of this. The result MAY be an "Insufficient Memory" requester 
    or a "Volume Ram Disk is full" when trying to jump between large menu
    sections - resetting the Amiga and reloading will restore the memory 
    and you can then continue as normal after re-loading.
    [this should be a rare occurance, as every effort has been taken to ensure
     the smooth-running of the programs]

NTSC Screens
============
Basically Medicine will not function correctly on NTSC Amigas (American Only).
[The result is a flickering image over the screen - interlace]
 Occasionally the 1.3 Amigas will load the system with an NTSC screen (THIS
EFFECT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BASICALLY MEDICINE ITSELF, but it will cause the
screen flickering problems). You may be accustomed to the `bug' in 1.3 Amigas
where the bottom-half of the screen is missing (this is the effect that
Basically Medicine will not work with - NTSC). A reset will remove this.

First Aid
---------
  A relatively small extra program on DiskTwo is HyperAid. This will provide
you with some GUIDELINES that might help you to `render aid' in a dangerous
or life-threatening situation.

AS A SUSPECTED RESULT OF THE USE OF FIRST AID AS DESCRIBED IN "HyperAid".
SOME OF THE TECHNIQUES SUCH AS `Mouth-to-mouth ventilation' & `external chest
compressions' MUST BE LEARNT UNDER STRICT FIRST AID SUPERVISION.

IT IS JUST MEANT AS A GUIDELINE & SHOULD ACCOMPANY A FIRST AID COURSE WITH A
LICENCED, VOLUNTARY ORGANISATION OR PROFESSIONAL ESTABLISHMENT.
