Mushroom PD - AMOS Public Domain Library APOLOGY ------- First of all, I would like to apologize for the length of time it has taken me to update the library, but due to lack of submissions and source code etc., I havent really needed to. I have also been working on some of my own projects, which are explained a bit more in detail below. COMMENDATION! ------------- My homepages at http://www.mushy-pd.demon.co.uk were recently invited by the Commonwealth Network, to be listed on their Bestsellers list. This is for homepages who provide a lot of traffic, in which to advertise their products, and bring traffic to their site. I would like to extend a great big thank-you to all those who have visited my pages, as you have all made it happen. The URL for the Riddler netgames is http://www.riddler.com NEWS ---- Mushroom PD now has a First Virtual bank account number, which if you have never heard of them, is a special code in which anyone who has internet access can buy any kind of products via credit card, and not have to risk sending the numbers via the net, in case of peeping Tom's so to speak. I will now be offereing registered programs from off my WWW pages directly, as all processes are sent directly to the First Virtual offices, so I dont have to do any work. Everything can be done via email, and regular post for those who dont always have net access. Stay tuned for more info in the future!! COMING SOON ----------- Several new projects are underway in the Mushroom PD gallery, and will make everyone's life a heck of a lot easier (I hope!). Here is a rundown, with a brief description, of the programs I am working on at the moment : MPDMailserv - Have you ever wanted to run your own mailing list? Well, now you can. This simple piece of software requires no special software to be installed (all that is needed should be with any amiga which can go online) and can let even the most illeterate of Amiga users run their own mailing list. The software is currently running the AmILC mailing list, and is undergoing mass re-writing and a nice user-friendly GUI being put in, which is also being released (See further down for more details). At present, the program allows you to have an infinite number of mailing lists, and seperate members on each of those mailing lists. The only thing that is limited (sort of) is the disk space for storing all the data on. The program counts how many email's each member has posted to the list, as well as how many bytes exactly they have posted, counts the different documents requested from the system, like help files etc. and all this information is displayed in a large file, which is distributed to the entire list upon request, and even has info on the server, such as how many emails it has sent out, bytes, FAQ files etc. Not to be missed!! You can also add your own commands to the mailserver, and program the system to react to them in certain ways, as well as be able to limit certain actions to certain members. Limiting is handy, for instance, if you are in a joint development with someone, you can give them permission to request the latest list of subscribed members on the list, so that they can stay in touch with them too. Watch for the demo version appearing very soon!! AmILC - AmILC is an online application I am writing, which is being designed to bring other Amiga users together from all around the world. It allows you to add other Amiga users to a contact list, and the system will notify you of when they come online. Not only does it do this, but you can send messages via each other, which are relayed to you as soon as you go online next. Each user gets a free WWW pager, for use by any computer system which can handle forms on the net, and will send messages directly to your screen, or as soon as you go online next. This is handy if someone wants to get in touch with you quickly. You can also have real-time chat with other members, send files, see a user's picture whilst chatting to them, and the program incorporates all of the browsers currently available. There is currently an AmILC mailing list, and if you would like to join and submit any questions, send an Email to AmILC@geocities.com, with the subject as SUBSCRIBE. Please note, that only members can post to the list, otherwise the mail will be deleted. You can also send a mail to the same address with FAQ or HELP in the subject and you will receive these files, as you dont have to be a member to request these be mailed to you. MPDGuiGen - AMOS is notorious for not having very good control over the OS system, but this program compensates and helps you with what you already have available. It was designed originally to create the GUI for a few of my other programs, including MPDMailserv, by simply just a few clicks and presses. And it does just that. You can quickly create full-blown, attractive GUI screens with just the mouse! You can create screens with multi-use buttons, string gadgets, file selectors, Bevel boxes, user windows, and a whole hoard of other bits and pieces. All boxes, gadgets, texts etc. have full control over the colours they can be assigned with, to make it even easier. To help you out even more, the program will save out data files in ASCII format, which can be merged directly into AMOS, and be compiled, to present you with your GUI. The code is layed out for each option in such a way, that it is easy to insert your code to perform each instruction. NET GAMES --------- Im also working on a net game (sheesh, all I seem to be doing at the moment is coding!!) which will let a number of users all integrate with each other and have a real major battle on their hands!! The game is based on Paul Burkey's excellent Sneech game, and I will have up to 7 other net players, all going for the lolly at once!! Should prove to be really hectic!!!! If you haven't played sneech, then you can order it from my homepages on http://www.mushy-pd.demon.co.uk/games.htm or if you go directly to Paul's page at http://www.sneech.demon.co.uk you'll find lots of the author's other games, including his amazing game Foundation, a Command and Conquer/Settlers/Sim City clone. NOT TO BE MISSED!!!! THE END?? --------- If you have any questions about the above material, you can email me personally at mushypd@redrose.net and I will be happy to answer all of your questions. My AMOS homepages are located at http://www.mushy-pd.demon.co.uk, and the AmILC homepages are located at http://www.geocities.com/Eureka/1250/ Thank-you for reading this Artical, take care!!
