-= Fruitie Digest: AWP edition #3 =-

INTRO:

It's a beauty.

People are becoming more and more willing to part with their info.
This is good news, and good karma (?). This issue has a few more tips,
a couple more machine guides (I love receiving these) and some more
feedback on past tips.

I figured it would be best to reorder the stuff into the order new
info, corrected info, requested info. Maybe once you've read all the
new and updated information, you'll feel more inclined to mail me some
of your own. :-)

Thanks this month go to Richard Brittan, Barry Edgar, Chris Mappley and
Chris Mcdonnell, Chris Wren, and Steve B
(apologies if I left out anyone's name)

Personally I didn't know this till Chris told me. Then, all of a
sudden I get three people tell me at once (see Big Banker,
Money Money Money, and the newly revised Casino Crazy guide!)

If only I had a Hyper Viper to try this on...
Can anyone name the types of machines this will work on?

A guide to Big Banker!

// BEGIN -------------------------------------------- Big Banker ----//
Date: Tue, 5 Nov 1996 11:02:46 +0000
From: Chris Mappley <chris@printchk.demon.co.uk>

Here's my compiled hints for The Big Banker, there's probably more, but
I've got to finish sometime, so here goes......

Basic one this, but when you get four straight in to take you to bonus,
remember that if you hit respin, although the lights don't flash, you
can still hold the reels. Therefore, hold the numbers and you get to,
at worst, one nudge. If you get respin without having enough numbers on
the reels, you could try to hold pairs of fruit/symbols this way, but
so far this has not proved 'fruitful' for me.

Obviously, and everyone knows this, on the bonus, if you get skill
nudge, it goes all the way to 16 nudges first time.

When you get the 'hidden' feature, there's three ways of stopping the
lights. Firstly, if it's spinning around in a non-skill type way, as
far as I can tell it stops randomly. Then, there's the continuous
spinner which is very similar, but of course it's a skill chance, so
choose wisely, oh, incidentally this is quite a rare beast, so don't
expect to see it much. Lastly, there's the more common 'random' stop,
which flashes all around the wheel. This can be slowed down by holding
the cancel button. This is still not that easy to stop, but on the
right hand side on the machine (at approx. 3 O'clock), there's Win
spins, Skill nudge and Skill Fruit, as these are all pretty good and
there together is reasonably easy to hit one of them. If you're feeling
bold, you could go for Mega Nudge or my favourite Reel 'em in, or
whatever it's called, anyway, it's opposite the red 7 at the bottom.
This feature can go ridiculously fast, which gives you no chance, but
most of the time, it's slow enough to bring in the jackpots. You can
even afford to miss the jackpots, as long as you stop the jackpot
symbol either just above the win line or one below. The machine is kind
enough to nudge the win up or down for you, which is quite handy.

As for Skill Fruit and Skill nudges, not only do they go up to the top
first time, actually, I got skill fruit recently, and I don't think it
did, but I had been drinking, anyway, but if you hold down the cancel
button, these skill chances both slow down dramatically.

Look, basically, the cancel button's the dog bollocks.

I can't guarantee this one, but 'a bloke in a pub' told me it, so it
must be true ;). On Skill nudge (via the features, I'm not sure if this
the same as when you get it from the bonus), if the rewards only six
English pounds or less, apparently if you nudge for the jackpot,
obviously not get it, the nudges repeat. I cocked this up slightly, I
went for the jackie, didn't really know what I was doing, brought in
nothing, and what actually happened was the 'hidden features' repeated
and I got win spins I think I actually may need help myself on this
one.

If the machines being a 'rascal', avoid gambling higher or lower on a
three from six pounds to the tenner, I know the aim of the game is the
Jackie Collins, but I have lost this too many times now, and it its a
six pound repeater after all.

Back to some more basic stuff, when a three comes in and it holds,
don't bother holding it, as that way you definitely avoid the bonus on
four, this is just my opinion of course.

Right, we all know that if it feature holds on six or seven three
times, on the third feature hold a number will comes in to take you up
to nudges. Now, here's a little tip, should it feature hold for the
third time and you get the option to hold, you can still hold one of
the reels, with a symbol you need for the 'hidden' feature above the
win line, (Oh, I held two once and it didn't work), and on one of the
other two reels a number will still come in, taking you to nudges, at
least one. This can be very useful to bring the feature in. I hope
that makes sense.

Another obvious one, but to increase your prize via nudges, let's say
you've already got 2.40 on nudges, and you've got a queen, if you
collect this, you'll have a crap number when it comes to the case
prizes, what I would do is to go lower on the queen (Hopefully the king
won't come it, sadly, it has in the past) on the nudges side and you
should get better number on the cash side.

Some-one pointed out to me that on each reel, the blue sevens are four
nudges away from the red sevens and visa versa. The only stops you
having to bend over to look up the reels, but that's part of the fun.
// END ---------------------------------------------- Big Banker ----//

Nicely.

If anyone would like to redescribe the skill-nudge tip about going for
the jackpot, I'll re-edit it and put it in a bigbanker.txt file along
with any other corrections & additions!

Next up, a Money Money Money guide from Barry Edgar. This machine
seems great to play, lots of bright things, lots of noises and features
and holds and and and...

It's so good you might even enjoy losing your shirt. But, you won't
have to if you know how to play...

// BEGIN ------------------------------------- Money Money Money ----//

Here is my guide to Maygay's new #10 Money, Money, Money game.

The Cost
========
Playing this game can be very expensive, you either win a lot or lose
a lot. Therefore, play this only if
(1)  There's #10 in the cashpot
(2) It sounds full when you insert your #1
(3) You have a big pocket full of #1 coins and are prepared to play
them all

The Cashpot
===========
Winning the cashpot is the best thing you can do. I have had it once -
2 repeats; my mate has had it once - 3 repeats; I was talking to this
guy in the pub, he has had it once with 2 repeats. It is not possible
to nudge onto 3 cashpots, I could see them and gambled on a risky 6 to
get them. I won the gamble and the bastard only offered 3 cherries,
there is no manual nudge. So you need to get 3 holds on 2 cashpots to
get the 3rd (or be very lucky).

The Features
============
Most of the features are crap but have the possibility of being good -
this really is sneaky. For example "Evens Favourite" usually gives you
an even number on the 1st spin (and pays 10p * the number) so could
keep giving you evens but usually gives you odd on the 2nd spin. 90%
of the time these features are crap. There are 3 good features
though:-

Heavens Above - choose one of the fruits above the winline, if you
don't choose a 7 or a boxed symbol you can get 2,3 or 4 quid (and
believe me on this machine this is a good prize!)

Twister - It's easy to time this well and get a high amount of nudges
or cash

Lucky For Some - it will be lucky for you if you know to press CANCEL
cause you will get #10 repeat (I have never got the repeat though)

The Bar Codes
=============
Maygay have stolen this idea from BellFruit. If you get triplebar
doublebar singlebar you get a hidden feature - by pressing any hold
button it immediately gives you the feature. The first time I pressed
HOLD button 1 - this gave me a crap feature; the 2nd time I pressed
Exchange+Hold1 - this game me the same crap feature; the 3rd time I
pressed hold3 - this gave me a crap feature! There must be some
technique to get a good feature but I don't yet know it.
[hold2 is also pretty crap :) - ash]

The Bonus
=========
All the bonuses are rubbish as well! If you get skill bonus press and
release CANCEL and you will be able to choose which useless bonus you
get! If you get RESPIN on the BONUS you can hold symbols (if you are
quick) but not if there are numbers which will give you a win!

Good Luck, let me know if you find out any more on this (especially
the Bar Codes - I think this is a feature that will be appearing in
future Maygay games as well)

Regards,
Barry Edgar.
// END --------------------------------------- Money Money Money ----//

A note to the curious: Yes, it does matter which order the bars come
in. You won't get the hidden feature for triple-single-double. And,
though it's a 'hidden' feature, it's pretty obvious by the flashing
fairy dust/stars on the left-hand-side of the fruitie.

FEEDBACK:
// Sinbad //
In The second digest, Ian Coggins said he thought the three holds in a
row on the Sinbad machine didn't end in a win. Well, here's a man who
thinks it does:

> From: Richard Brittan <RBRITTAN@gapint.co.uk>
> Date: Mon, 4 Nov 1996 15:36:22 +0000
>
> Sinbad has held 3 times for me on blue sevens for JP gamble.

Well worth quoting I'm sure you'll agree...?

// Casino Crazy //
Of course, that wasn't the only thing RB had to say. He had a lot of
corrections to make to the Casino Crazy guide (by Neil Drinkall) which
I have ammended and is available to you from...
http://www.aston.ac.uk/~searlea/casinocrazy.txt

The ammended copy also has a quality tip from a mate of Neil's, Steve B
<104706.3252@compuserve.com> (what's the B stand for?).  Which I'll
quote here so nice wise people can tell me which other machines it
works on ;-)

Fruit-Climb feature:
> The fruits work on the 'on/off pattern'. This means you can get the
> jackpot every time! Just hit the button when the first fruit is on,
> then on the next when the light goes out, just repeat this and your
> away!!

I guess that works on Cash Climb on some fruities...?

REQUESTS:
// Money Money Money //
Any additions to the guide would be good, and here's a question
of my own (incase you think I never play :)

There's a feature called Crazy Cash where you stop the number reel
(which spins stupidly fast), and you then get M * the number in cash.
It's easy to stop on 10, 11 or 12 cos they're fat numbers, so you can
get into the rhythmn of them spinning past.

I was stopping on 12 regularly, and getting a choice of 20, 40, 60 or
80p * 12 - which always ended up being 20p (it's probably not a choice
at all:).  When I stopped it on 1, I got 2.20 * 1...

So, what's the best number to stop it on? 12 * 80p is 9.60, which is
nice, but it's not jackpot value. Do you get jackie for stopping it on
10? (* 1.00, obviously)

I'd have tried it myself, but didn't have time to, and hadn't thought
of it while I was still playing anyway :(

Anyone know of any other machines that have this 'quirk'?

Past digests are continually hanging around at:
http://www.aston.ac.uk/~searlea/fd1.txt
http://www.aston.ac.uk/~searlea/fd2.txt
http://www.aston.ac.uk/~searlea/fd3.txt
(but that's this one...you won't need that ;)
and the corrected Casino Crazy guide is at
http://www.aston.ac.uk/~searlea/casinocrazy.txt

If you happen to be going near Clubs and Casinos, you'll
probably want a hand with the slightly LARGER jackpot fruities.
You wouldn't say no to 250 quid would you?
Well, I haven't got any info on those, but I know a man who has
(and you probably do too):
Check out Chris Smedley's web pages at
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/the_president/homepage.htm
for info on his big guide to Club Fruitties.

I hear a lot of people saying they haven't got 150 quid to play on club
machines...
Remember, the idea isn't to _lose_ your money ;-)

FINALLY:

If you've got any corrections, tips, expert knowledge, or you've done,
or are going to do, a machine breakdown please send them to me by
replying to this email. (Writing a guide would help to sort things out
in your own mind too...)

Until next time (probably November 25-29th by current performance ;)

That's all,
