-= Fruitie Digest: AWP edition #1 =- CONTENTS:- Intro General Playing Guide Machine Specifics: Monopoly Sinbad Hyper Viper Coming Soon INTRO: This is going to be updated sometime soon, cos a lot of it is pretty worthless (5th Dec 96) Alas, I don't seem to have a pound sign on my keyboard, so I'm going to use the USA domination $ sign - you know what it means. GENERAL: When it comes to AWP's their are a few general practices from the big manufacturers that have been established over the last few years. These make it easy to transfer skills between machines without paying too much attention to what make it is. Although the Jackpot may only be $10, it's the aim of every fruitie player to win more than that, and the limit on an AWP would seem to be near enough $50 (profit). There are several 'moods' for fruities. They break down into: - walk away - win a pint - single jackpot - sequences Basic signs to judge the modd are how often you get bonus symbols on the win-line (ie, choose-a-trail, skill-stop, stoppa). What follows is my interpretation of the signs, you're free to disagree and/or proove me wrong (mail me) - I play AWP's with only a fiver to lose...very different to playing club machines. If a fruitie's giving you nothing, no bonuses, no trail helds, it's taking the piss - this could go on for 12 to 15 quid, walk away. A fruitie that's trying to rob you of your money could:- - give you holds when there's nowt worth holding - repeatedly give you one number short of the amount you need to get on the feature. It'll be robbing your money by dragging trail-held sequences out over 5 or 6 spins. - give you 3 or 4 nudges when there's nothing to nudge in, and no holds afterwards either. - give you Bonuses on the trail, but always gives you sumit shit like stoppa, double-up or numbers-in-view, with no chance of completing the trail. (intermission) fact 1 (holds): if you're holding a pair of fruits or symbols, the third will ALWAYS drops in if you have, and use, three holds in a row. (ie. you're won't be wasting your money holding the again and again and again). fact 2 (trail-held + holds): When you've got a long trail-held sequence and with holds on the reel as well; if there are no numbers to hold, on the third hold, all the numbers you need to get on the feature will drop in. (as long as you don't hold anything else) fact 3 (nudges + hold): after nudges, if you're given holds and there's a pair of matching fruits on the winline, don't hold anything. All 3 WILL drop in when you spin the reels. (this also works for features - if there are two hats, slices of pie, andy-capps, whatever; don't hold anything, all three will spin in straight away) When a fruitie's letting you get on the feature board, giving you useful nudges etc etc, it's a good sign; but you need to watch that you're getting the money back that you're putting in, and the fruitie isn't just syphoning it off bit by bit (ie 4 quid to 3 quid...) Most playing style comes from experience, personal choice of whether to hold numbers or symbols, and varies depending on you're opinion of the machine at the time. What this falls down to is playing machines constantly, familiarizing yourself with them, and learning what to do inbetween the situations that you do know how to handle. It's all nice 'n easy if nudges and holds are given at the appropriate times, but if they're not, you need to know how to keep hold of your drinking money. That takes experience. MACHINES: Monopoly: > From: Dean Bakker > On the #10 monopoly machine: > 1)if you get the bonus and get random stop, press the cancel button to > slow it down. (This will also work on other machines.) > 2)if you get the little man with the hat, the best feature to take is > 10 nudges. You take the ten nudges and you don't think you can nudge > down the jackpot, just bring the little man down and try it again. > you can keep on doing this until you get the jackpot. (I think the > sequence for 10 nudges was right, left, middle but I'm not too sure) Can anyone confirm the key-sequence? I assume if the cancel button slows down random stop, it also slows down skill-stop? A friend of Deans says after a win, turning the machine off and on will give you the win again....anyone know of any truth in this? > From: Richard Hopkins > > If you want to play with cheats like that 321231 or 1321231 then > here's another: Monopoly... there are 4 types. Old machine, red / > white. newer machine - beige need 3 monopoly playing pieces to get > feature. as previous but blue and called monopoly deluxe, and a new > one monopoly 60 - light letters of monopoly to spell feature. The > middle two have a reset cheat where you type 13 13 13 13 13 12 12 12 > 12 or more easily (13)*5 (12)*4ish. The only problem is that most > machines seem to be 5p - never fill up enuff to win - play machines. Does anyone know the value of reset cheats? I'm coming round to the idea that maybe they aren't too useful - perhaps getting the middle hold button flashing doesn't signify the end of the key-sequence, but another temporary mode to put in some cheat-codes - or alternatively simple test-codes to check the machine's working properly without taking the back off (ie, legitimate engineer testing stuff = useless) Hyper Viper: > From: matt@barnes.globalnet.co.uk (Matthew Morgan) > > If you hold any two like symbols and get a hold again, hold the > two again, and if there's a third hold, you're gaurenteed one of > two end reults. Hold the two symbols again and they will roll in, > [see above - ash] or don`t hold any reel and you`ll get either a > nice spin or extra number to make your way to the feature board. I've never noticed this as I always hold the third time, I guess there may be situations/times when it's worth spinning for the extra numbers instead? Sinbad: > From: Ian Coggins > > Heres one tip I've noticed for the sinbad > machine by bwb(?) - Its a 10 quid machine btw. > > If you get a nudge or two, and you can't nudge in a win straight away, > but have one of the 'symbols' on the win line.. then nudge the symbol > off the win line. 9 times out of 10 it gives you a 'feature held'. > > Doesn't always lead to any wins, but if you've got 5 out of 6 features > already lit it can be useful. If anyone knows any other tips that increase/guaranteed your chance of feature holds (or reel holds) using/following nudges, please don't keep them to yourself... Just to round off, I was playing Run for your Money today and was reminded of something to watch out for on fruities (anyone care to name brands/machines...?) :- If the lights on the hold buttons or the reels flash in a strange way, take note. I had 3 triple bars lined up above the winline, and noticed them flash (just the bars) before the hold buttons started blinking. I've seen this before - and this is what you do. Hold all three reels - simple. Press Start and all three reels drop down giving you the win. I think I've seen this on Las Vegas Strip as well...which is one of those fruities that tell you how to play ("let 'em spin", "hold 'em all" etc...) Moral of the story - keep your eyes peeled. Coming Soon: There are many questions remaining to be answered - which fruities give you 'hidden' holds, and when - how do you encourage them, take advantage of them etc etc - are they just like normal holds? Does anyone have proof or experience that holding & cancelling in certain situations really does lead to increased payouts/features/numbers/...? I guess the next AWP issue will have something to add on this one (things I've got wrong, confirmation about the hat-wearing bloke in Monopoly etc.) Someone's offered to do a Casino Crazy guide for me (no names, in case he gets too busy...) It'd be good to see someone break down Place Your Bets, cos I think that one is going to be around for a while, and if anyone has any opinions on the latest fruities with orange sevens (eg. SuperPots) and whether it's any different to playing with red sevens and blue sevens...it'd help. These things are needed - fruites go through generations with entire ranges of machines using the same code - an orange seven could signify a new generation - ie. including a few extra cheats, a few dropped cheats, and possibly some new anti-common-sense hold sequences. Anyone know what to do if you're offered holds IMMEDIATELY following a feature (particularly on Project Coin machines)? I've heard there's some hold/cancel sequence that makes either the feature or the payout come up/out again... Lastly a tip from Ross Younger :- > Help keys (6/8/10 AND 100/200 payouts) - Some machines with auto-play > keys double those up as help on the skill-stops. Some you just press; > some you hold down and it stops at the top. I've got to admit, I like the sound of 'just press'. Previous to this, the only help key I knew about was cancel; hold it while you've got a skill-stop on Casino-Crazy, Eastenders, and Spellbound (especially when you've got the Spellbound feature) I'm beginning to get a feeling with my uni' club fruitie (Club Pink Panther)... If it's feeling tight, and gives you a quid win, exchanging for either step-to-nearest-win or choose-a-win gives you quid win-lines... But; if I hold the cancel button when I collect the feature, I get two or three quid win-lines more often...coincidence? (I know, I know; playing a club-fruitie I should be worrying about 100 quid, and not one or two quid - unfortunately the bar-staff empty the machine couple of nights and so the cashpots stay at 200 quid - and never pay out - and the fruitie never has enough money in it to pay out a 200 quid jackpot either... NB: I haven't heard a single coin drop into the cashbox.... :( A Club-Fruitie edition digest seems a long way off as noone sent me any tips except Ross's skill-stop cheat, this makes it a bit hard to compile one. This may not be too bad as Chris seems to provide tips regularly anyway, but surely there are tips to get 25 quid out of a club fruite when you're in a rush - if the time's right, of course (or am I dreaming bollocks?) That's the end of this one. I won't bother with any general stuff next time unless I've got something hideously wrong, or I've left some glaring omissions (care to point them out for me?). I expect things are going to get a tad more specific next time... cheers, ash
